I’m sure if your reading this you either have young children or at one time had young children so you can empathize with me. Brushing teeth has got to be the biggest struggle in my household. With 3 young children who have agendas of their own, brushing their teeth doesn’t seem to top the list.
I’m not sure about you, but at my house we struggle with the two minute rule. My children don’t seem to understand that just putting the toothbrush in your mouth and sucking off the toothpaste doesn’t quite work the way it should. We’ve tried the singing a song thing, but seriously, how are you supposed to sing while brushing your teeth?
So, when I was contacted to do a review on the FireFly toothbrush, I jumped at the opportunity. The FireFly toothbrush is among the many personal care innovations from Buena Park, California’s DR. FRESH. Dr. Fresh manufactures a host of popular and affordable oral care and personal health products.
The first thing I noticed about the toothbrush were the bright colors. It will surely catch the eyes of the younger ones. My daughter of course picked the pink one, my first son picked the blue one and I gave a clear one to my youngest son. After opening the toothbrushes I noticed how nicely they fit into little hands. Each of the children were able to get a good grip to make brushing more efficient.
The FireFly toothbrush is also gentle on little gums. The bristles are soft and individually rounded to prevent microscopic cuts to the gums.
Another feature I love is the built in timer. Once the timer is activated, it will blink bright red for one minute. The one minute timer is the amount of time your child should spend brushing on each arch. I have to say, a much better alternative to singing. After the timer stops blinking, you should restart it and start on the other arch. Another cool feature is the battery. The light stops functioning after the optimal number of uses, meaning it’s time for a new one.
I saved the best for last. This toothbrush retails for only 99 cents! The FireFly toothbrush is a fantastic, frugal find!

Well this one we have learned that use force when necessary-but usually if you can make it fun in anyway-it helps.

no secret,kids minded back then.
Having taught responsibility for one’s actions, no additional prodding is necessary to get the kids to brush their teeth.
The trick is to get some fun toothbrushes and fun flavor toothpaste. Thank you!

The secret to get the children to brush their teeth is to reward them.
My kiddo isn’t even here yet…but what I will do to encourage brushing is to let him see Grandpa’s mouth with his missing teeth, tell them about cavities, and use some sort of timer.
My problem is getting our daughter to stop brushing her teeth all the time and wasting a lot of toothpaste.
its really quite neat…the dentist gave us a copy of their teeth COULD look like if they dont brush..lemme tell you…its not pretty!!
Works like a charm!

I make it part of the routine so they know when it is time to brush. And I sing a fun brushing teeth song which they have come to expect and now demand their father sing too when he is helping them brush LOL

I don’t thinik it’s a secret. I stand there to make sure it’s done and done correctly.
I have to be honest -my children love to brush their teeth. I don’t have to bribe them or chase them down -they actually WANT to do it. In fact, my two-year-old cries for her toothbrush. I know I’m very lucky.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Threaten them with the dentist, works like a charm.

My daughter HATES brushing her teeth and would NEVER brush them if I didnt force her too!! UGH. This may help! Thanks for the chance.

i pretty much let my 2 yr old think he’s in charge of it all.
My kids actually like to brush, they are 7 & 4 years old
I brush my teeth at the same time to inspire my toddler to brush. So far, so good. My two oldest have no problems brushing, whatsoever. My 10-yr. old has to be reminded…gently…three or four…or five times.

telling them if they dont their teeth will rot and fall out!
We always brush our teeth together. My daughter likes to do what I’m doing so she makes it easy!

My hubby is in dental school and he handles the kids’ teeth brushing! He does a great job getting them to “brush the bugs” off their teeth!
I’m lucky that my son actually likes to brush his teeth! His dentist talked to him about germs and healthy teeth and I think the conversation really hit home for my son!
Death threats? Oh wait you want the nice mom comment. Oh pleading, holding him down, doing it for him … what it’s what you’re all thinking … LOL
make it a game
Teach them how to brush.
Remind them daily to brush.
Expect them to brush daily.
Remind them always anyway.
Praise them for a job well done.
Keep on reminding.
We use an electronic toothbrush to keep it fun. But I would love to win and try these!

I’m not sure I have a great secret. They’ve just always seen us brush and they know that it’s not an option to not brush. Of course it might not hurt that they had a grandfather who wore dentures and went around half the time without them in LOL
no secret…they love brushing. I hope it continues.
great tasting toothpaste and a bribes

I tell my kids that if they come back from the dentist with NO cavities then they get a Webkinz of their choice. Works every time.
They like the dental rinse we use so they brush so they can have that.

I let everyone pick their favorite flavor of toothpaste. We always have half a dozen open tubes but hey whatever works.
We all brush together, and now my kids love to brush!
God this is the biggest problem with my daughter. I have to brush my teeth along side her so she thinks she is going something cool, get a fun toothbrush, tell her she is doing a great job the entire time, and sometimes hold her down while she screans…yay!

When my nieces and nephews come over to visit us, I make sure that I always have some new and fun toothbrushes for them!
Mine never really had a problem brushing. Told her what happens if you dont brush and after that, no problems here. Sometimes scare tactics are the way to go.

I brush mine with my daughter – she is happier when we brush together!
Thanks
I have to constantly yell like a drill sergeant otherwise they won’t do it. I usually set the kitchen timer and tell them not to stop until it beeps.
I tell my son- less money at the dentist filling cavities means more money at the toy store
I am lucky my daughter loves to brush her teeth. Problem being she doesn’t like me to. So I usually have to hold her and sing a silly song.
If she dont brush her teeth she dont leave the house and since she loves playing outside she brushes her teeth.
My children have a small 2 minute sand “hour glass” timer. They love to turn it over and they brush until all the sand is gone. It has worked for us for 16 years!
My secret to getting the kids to brush their teeth has always been to make it part of the after meal “ritual” (put dishes in sink, wash face, brush teeth)

Brushing together always seems to work. Plus, I bought a three minute hour-glass timer. We put it in the bathroom and turn it over when we begin brushing…the sand is multi-colored and is fascinating to watch. The three minute brushing time is over before my kids know it!
Thank you.
Use the kind of toothpase the kids like, as well as a sticker chart.
