I was recently sent Sambucol for my family and I to review. If you don’t know what it is, Sambucol is a supplement made from Black Elderberry extract that helps support your immune system.
Since most of you don’t know me personally, then you have no idea that I am baby when it comes to taking medicine. I absolutely hate taking medicine. It always seems the pills get stuck in the back of my throat or the liquid is so disgusting I end up…well you know! So when I received the Sambucol and opened it, I was terrified.
By just looking at the color of the Sambucol, I didn’t think anything good could come out of that. But, surprisingly, it taste good. It is really sweet and taste nothing like medicine. It reminds me of a thicker fruit juice.
Another thing I noticed was that it didn’t smell like medicine either. I also have a problem with smelling things, and it smells nice too.
To keep your immune system healthy, it is recommended that you take 2 teaspoons daily for adults and children over 4. If you’re sick and using it to fight an illness it is recommended that you take 2 teaspoons 4 times daily.
I know many people are having to cut gluten from their diets for various reasons. Sambucol is gluten free and is also free of any artificial colors.
I was also sent Sambucol Cold & Flu Relief Tablets. I haven’t been sick so I haven’t had the opportunity to personally try these. My husband however has been fighting a cold bug. I gave him a Sambucol Cold & Flu Relief Tablet to try and he was pleasantly surprised. He said that he liked the sweet taste of the tablet. Another thing he really liked is that it didn’t mess with his taste buds. With some of the other cold tablets, he had problems with not being able to taste food or anything so this was a great plus to him.
He did say that the Sambucol Cold & Flu Tablets did dry his mouth out though. But other than that he is pleased with the product and would use it again.
We also received Sambucol for Kids. My oldest son loves to take medicine. Really, he does. No matter what it is, how it taste, he wants it. So I gave him the Sambucol for Kids and he loves it. After he tried it I asked him what he thought about it and he said “nummy” which is translated “yummy”.
I also gave some to my almost 6 year old daughter to try and asked her the same question. Of course she had a long drawn out answer but the short and simple version is that when you first put it in your mouth it takes kinda like honey. After you swallow the Sambucol it leaves a taste like lemon and berries mixed together.
They both wanted more so I came to the conclusion that they like it.
