Earth Mama Angel Baby Challenge and Giveaway (Closed)

earth mama angel baby logo

I’ve been a mommy now for 6 years and you would think that by now I would have it together. Well sadly, I don’t. It wasn’t until I was contacted by Earth Mama Angel Baby and asked to do a challenge to see what my Skin Deep toxicity rating was that I realized that I’ve been using products on my children and I that are loaded with toxins.  What have I been doing these last 6 years?

Earth Mama Angel Baby has the only line of 100% natural, organic, toxin-free skin and body care from pregnancy and beyond.  All of Earth Mama Angel Baby products are cruelty free, certified vegan and kosher which means no petrochemicals, parabens, SLS, artificial preservatives, fragrances or dyes.

Earth Mama Angel Baby’s founder Melinda Olsen’s mission was to treat the common symptoms of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and baby care with pure, safe herbal alternatives. Being a nurse, herbalist and mother she set out and created a company that truly cares for their customers. I’m so happy to be able to introduce you to this extraordinary company.

earthmama angel baby kit

Earth Mama Angel Baby sent me their Angel Baby Kit that is filled with natural and organic goodies for baby. The Angle Baby Kit includes:

  • Angel Baby Bath Blossoms, 42 g.(1.5 oz.)
  • Angel Baby Bottom Balm, 30 ml.(1 oz.)
  • Angel Baby Lotion, 60 ml.(2 oz.)
  • Angel Baby Oil, 30 ml.(1 oz.)
  • Angel Baby Shampoo & Body Wash, 50 ml (1.67 fl. oz.)
  • Angel Baby Sleep CD

We love Earth Mama Angel Baby around here!  When I think about natural and organic products, I usually think boring.  I know, bad me!  But there is nothing boring about Earth Mama Angel Baby products.  The aroma of the Angel Baby Shampoo & Body Wash is simply amazing!  I also enjoy the fact that it is a non-irritating, gentle castile soap that is safe for my children.  It is made with only pure and safe ingredients.  However, this is not a “no-tear” formula.  Use extra caution around your children’s eyes.

earth mama bottom balmThe Angel Baby Bottom Balm is unlike any other diaper rash cream I have used.  The other creams I have used have been white and smelly but this is made with olive oil so its light and smooths on easily. What I really love about Angel Baby Bottom Balm is that is has so many uses other than being a diaper rash cream.  You can use it on dry skin, razor burn, bug bites, scrapes, etc.  I hear that people are calling it the miracle balm.

The Angel Baby Lotion smells amazing!  My daughter Taylor who is 6, says it smells like cake.  It really does smell like cake batter.  I can’t apply lotion to my son without craving a huge slice of cake.  The lotion is free of artificial dyes and fragrances and is gentle on babies skin.  It is very easy to apply and rubs in nicely.angel baby oil

The Angel Baby Oil is made with a grape seed oil blend.  It is infused with calming organic chamomile and moisturizing organic calendula, and really doesn’t have much of an aroma. It’s perfect for calming baby with a relaxing massage.

I haven’t had a chance yet to try Angel Baby Bath Blossoms but I did open it up and it smells so good! The bath blossoms are a sweet herb blend of organic blossoms of calendula, chamomile, rosebuds and lavender along with organic lemon balm and moisturizing organic oatmeal. It comes with a muslin bag that can also double as a gentle washcloth. {I seriously haven’t used it on the baby yet so I can try it myself first, ha!}

And last but not least is the Angle Baby Sleep CD. The CD is filled with spoken lullabies that help promote peaceful sleepy time for baby.

On June 23rd, Earth Mama Angel Baby announced that all of their products are now rated a “zero” on the Skin Deep database. The database is a guide to cosmetics and personal care products from the Environmental Working Group.

You can purchase Earth Mama Angel Baby products directly from their website.

Giveaway:

Earth Mama Angel Baby is giving one Simply Being Mommy reader the Angel Baby Lotion that I reviewed above.

Enter:

I want you to take a small little challenge just so you can see how toxic some of the “baby” lotions are. Get the bottle of lotion that you are currently using in your household.

Go to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics’ Skin Deep database and enter the product name in the search field.

When you have your score, post your answer to three quick questions (below) in the comments area. Your post in the comments section with your three answers is one entry into the contest. Don’t worry – there are no right or wrong answers, but we think you’ll be surprised at how high the toxin score is, even for those products you are using that are labeled “natural” or even “organic”.

1. What was your Skin Deep toxicity rating score?
2. How did you feel about your score and/or ingredients?
3. Were you surprised at how high the toxin score is for any products labeled “natural” or “organic” ?

Want Extra Entries?:

After you have completed the first entry, you are eligible for additional entries. Make sure you leave a separate comment for EACH entry. Each counts as one extra entry unless noted otherwise.

Wow! I got a score of 7 for the product I’ve been using on all four of my kids. I am in complete shock, sick to my stomach, and am on the verge of tears. Just when you think you are doing the best you can for your family, you find out you are giving or using things on them that could cause serious problems.

I noticed many of the products I use are at a high risk of potentially causing CANCER! Having had cancer twice in my short lifetime, products labeled organic and natural don’t mean a whole lot anymore…

I would love to enter your contest because I am expecting my fourth baby any day now but I just don’t have the time to look up how many toxins are in my baby products. These products look wonderful and I believe in using all natural lotions, beauty products and cosmetics.

I was shocked! So many supposedly ‘natural’ products have a high toxicity rating – above a “6″ or more :( – But our Baby lotion (Aveeno) for my Grandson came out better than most @ a “3″. It’s sickening to see how some products that are actually VERY BAD for us can get away w/their “Creative Marketing”!

My score was a 3. There are a lot of chemicals in it still. I am not surprised at all. I feel cancer incidents are much higher do to all the chemicals in products/food. I have been using this site for a few years. They need strict rules for beauty products and of the like. I try to use natural products that are not in the supermarket, but it isn’t always cheap.

    1. What was your Skin Deep toxicity rating score?
0 (I use the EMAB stuff, lol)

    2. How did you feel about your score and/or ingredients?

    Lovely.

    3. Were you surprised at how high the toxin score is for any products labeled “natural” or “organic” ?

Yes. I always check the ingredients and the cosmeticdatabase.com website. Just cause something says its natural doesn’t mean it really is.

    3) I know from experience that a lot of “natural” and “organic” products really aren’t. Just because it has a “natural” label doesn’t mean it’s good stuff, nor that it’s free of horrible things!
