This holiday season, Macy’s BELIEVE campaign builds on the great success of last year’s holiday effort to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. Macy’s is adding to the spirit of “Believe” with a national Santa Tour, an honorary National Believe Day, a “Yes, Virginia” animated special, and a new TV commercial featuring Queen Latifah.

The nostalgic holiday campaign was inspired by the New York Sun’s famous “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” editorial from 1897 and includes letter-writing “Believe Stations” in Macy’s stores across the country. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1.00 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1 million.

One year, when my sister and I were little, we were coming through Sears after seeing Santa. When we almost reached the door to leave, we saw this HUGE Disney Castle that had Mickey and all his friends around it. Since we just had our birthday the week before, we knew we couldn’t get it now. We asked if we could have it for Christmas. When our parents told us no, we left the mall upset. On Christmas morning, we ran down and the stairs. Guess what we saw? They had already gotten it before we even saw it!

My favorite christmas memory is the year we came from Alaska to Penna to have Christmas at Grammy’s.We had Christmas in Alaska before we left, Then drove for 11 or 12 days to Grammy’s When we arrived in her small Penna town, it was late at night, It was snowing and the entire town was decorated for Christmas. The lights were beautiful. I was 10 years old. The Best part was getting to Grammy’s and she didn’t know for sure when we would arrive. She was asleep and waking her up was great. It had been almost 4 years since we had seen her. What a great Christmas we all enjoyed together.

One Christmas, it snowed like crazy. My mom went outside and got me and my sister a chunk of snow each, then topped it with warm maple syrup. So good! Great memory!

My favorite Christmas memory is the huge family gatherings that we used to have when I was younger. They were so much fun!
