Macy’s A Million Reasons to Believe $25.00 Gift Card Giveaway (Closed)
November 19, 2009 | Filed Under Giveaways | 342 Comments
This holiday season, Macy’s BELIEVE campaign builds on the great success of last year’s holiday effort to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. Macy’s is adding to the spirit of “Believe” with a national Santa Tour, an honorary National Believe Day, a “Yes, Virginia” animated special, and a new TV commercial featuring Queen Latifah.
The nostalgic holiday campaign was inspired by the New York Sun’s famous “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” editorial from 1897 and includes letter-writing “Believe Stations” in Macy’s stores across the country. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1.00 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1 million.

One year, when my sister and I were little, we were coming through Sears after seeing Santa. When we almost reached the door to leave, we saw this HUGE Disney Castle that had Mickey and all his friends around it. Since we just had our birthday the week before, we knew we couldn’t get it now. We asked if we could have it for Christmas. When our parents told us no, we left the mall upset. On Christmas morning, we ran down and the stairs. Guess what we saw? They had already gotten it before we even saw it!

My favorite christmas memory is the year we came from Alaska to Penna to have Christmas at Grammy’s.We had Christmas in Alaska before we left, Then drove for 11 or 12 days to Grammy’s When we arrived in her small Penna town, it was late at night, It was snowing and the entire town was decorated for Christmas. The lights were beautiful. I was 10 years old. The Best part was getting to Grammy’s and she didn’t know for sure when we would arrive. She was asleep and waking her up was great. It had been almost 4 years since we had seen her. What a great Christmas we all enjoyed together.

My favorite memory is getting together for our family dinners
Happi Shopr on December 3rd, 2009 2:38 pm
One Christmas when we were little nearly the whole family came and Santa came with toys for all the kiddos. It was so sweet of Daddy’s friend to do that for us.

Every single year when we put up lights, my dad would have us lay under the tree staring up at the magical twinkling lights…

I remember going to bed on Christmas Eve, and being so excited but so anxious to go to sleep…my brother and I would really struggle to fall asleep as quickly as possible because it would “make Christmas come sooner.” And then the thrill of waking up and yelling to everyone that it was Christmas, to get up to open their presents!!

I remember when my dad was alive and he dressed up like Santa when my kids were pretty little. It was so fun and it’s a nice memory.

Our Christmas was always a bit different – Santa actually came to our house every Christmas Eve and handed out gifts one by one and we had to do something to get the gift – even the adults (read a poem, do a little dance, sing etc.). It was soooooo exciting waiting for him.
Debra F on December 3rd, 2009 7:53 pm
My best Christmas memory was when my son was 3 years old and we waited for him to wake up Christmas morning and when he woke up and saw the presents under the tree, his expression and excitement was priceless.
Geoff K on December 3rd, 2009 7:54 pm
My favorite Christmas memory would have to be leaving out cookies and milk for Santa on Christmas Eve with my sister and “finding” the note he left us the next morning with our presents. I miss that sense of innocence and wonder, and looking back it was a very sweet tradition my parents kept up as long as my sister and I continued to “believe.” Thanks!

One Christmas, it snowed like crazy. My mom went outside and got me and my sister a chunk of snow each, then topped it with warm maple syrup. So good! Great memory!
