A Funny From My First Grader

December 2, 2009 | Filed Under Taylor | 14 Comments

bluray logoI’m not sure who invented the Blu-Ray and why they decided to spell it the way they did but my first grade daughter has noticed the incorrect spelling.

We bought a new Sony Blu-Ray Player on Black Friday so we have the box sitting in our livingroom. My daughter is learning to read so she reads everything. Along with reading she is learning how to spell. So after she reads a word, she spells it. I think this helps her to memorize it.

As she was spelling Blu-Ray she looks at me with this weird face and says, “A child must of written this. Blue is spelled B-L-U-E.” As you can imagine, I laughed hysterically. This kid is always saying some of the funniest things.

What are some of the funny things your children have said lately?

That’s too funny! My daughter is very much like that too!

Let’s see the latest thing she said that was funny to me was the other night …

I have been putting Baby K to bed by having him say g’night to everyone (he blows everyone kisses) then I bring him into the bedroom, turn on the night light, place him in his crib with his bottle, turn on his music, blow him a kiss and say “night I love you” then I walk out and shut the door. Well my DD wondered why I just left Baby K in there when he was crying (he literally cried for under 30 seconds & then was out) … Justin (my hubs) told her that’s how Mom puts K to bed now. My wonderfully smart aleck daughter says “WELL that’s NO way to put a baby to bed” …

Oh my goodness that is priceless!

When my daughter was in Kindergarten her teacher asked the kids where milk came from, of course the kids said cows. My daughter though, the city girl that she is, said ” how many of you really go out to the “cow” and get your milk, huh? Really, milk comes from the grocery store!”. <–That's my girl!

      Brandy & Tammy,

Those are great! I often wonder what goes on in their little heads.

I really should write some of the things down that my daughter says. She slays me!

One thing that happened lately was that I was having issues with a fellow drive and told her so in a few choice but tame words. My daughter gasped and said, ‘You said the C word!’ I was shocked and denied it! She spelled it out for me. ‘C-R-A-P!’ Oops.

That is so cute! Near around when they first came out, I was asking around for info on these players at a forum. I accidently typed out Blue lol you would be suprised how many people were kind of rude about it.

What a smart little girl… Sounds like when my son said that the Kraft company didn’t know how to spell cheese! They had it all wrong when they said cheese was spelled K-R-A-F-T! They are listening, we need to be REALLY carefully.

So funny and looks like you have a spelling B contestant in the future.
