With all the holiday hustle and bustle, it probably feels like you’re always catching up… Frito-Lay wants to help ensure you never miss a beat during the holidays. With some shortcuts and quick “better for you” recipes coupled with a little flair and presentation, you’ll have your guests asking “how does she do it?”

Frito-Lay brings you the “Holiday Party in a Pinch:” A few tips to prepare both the home and the pantry so you’re always ready to be the holiday hostess:”

  • Ambiance is everything – Keep a playlist of festive music easily accessible or stock the stereo with CDs so it’s ready at the push of a button…literally. Add a few scented candles and presto…instant ambiance!
  • Let guests add their touch – Keep a box of ornaments on hand and ask your guests to add one to the tree.
  • No clean-up necessary – Stock-up on a supply of holiday-colored paper plates, napkins and utensils to lessen post-party clean-up. And if the house is tidy before you head out for the day, there’s no scrambling once they arrive!
  • Stock the pantry – Have some “better for you” Frito-Lay products on hand to lessen the stress of “what to fix?” and allow for more time to visit with your guests. Frito-Lay’s Tostitos Scoops or Baked! Scoops — with a delicious dip — are true crowd-pleasers. Serve on a festive platter or dish and presto! …festive snacks ready to share!

  • 1 can fat free refried beans
  • 1 small jar of salsa
  • 1 pkg shredded cheese (usually a cheese blend or 2% mild cheddar)
  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 bag Baked! Doritos

Brown the ground turkey. Drain grease and add all other ingredients. Cook until ground turkey is heated throughout and cheese is melted. Enjoy with Baked! Tostitos.

      I do a simple bean dip, make punch, chips, and pizza fast easy and cheap. Forget decorations people dont pay too much mind to them any ways and its just one more thing you have to clean up haha

      I try to keep a bag of unopened dip chips, a can of refried beans, and a jar of salsa on hand all the time. That way I’m generally prepared for unexpected guests – at least I can serve an impromptu dip!

      I like to do a lot of dips- it saves on having to buy disposable silverware or washing any of your own.

      have drinks on hand even if they aren’t cold…just keep it in the garage or something and it’ll be fine and you can always add ice. it’s good to have various types on hand when they are on sale in case you have people over.

      I always have a block of cream cheese, salsa and chips on hand just in case I need them. Oh I forgot, I always make sure the liquor cabinet is stocked. LOL!.

      Always have some frozen either vegetable or meat filled ravioli’s in the freezer. They cook up fast in boiling water, then drain. Put toothpicks in them and serve with various sauces, like Mexican Salsa’s, or a bean/cheese dip, or any of the dips normally used for chips or vegetables.

      We keep all the hot dips hot with little crock pots! perfect for entertaining and if it’s a football party a large crock-pot of salsa con queso!

      We always keep cream cheese and different toppings in the fridge. Grab a block of Cream cheese, cut it in half and put on 2 plates. Put some different chips and crackers out with it.

      I love to have people for dinner.. My biggest trick is to serve foods that can be prepared before my guests arrive.. That way I can enjoy the party and everything is ready. Lots of Crockpot, Slow Cooker meals at my house.

      Also party in a pinch tip – would be to have frozen fruit salad in the freezer thaw and serve. Chips and little sandwiches work too.
      It also serves well to simply enjoy your company and acknowledge time spent together is more special than any meal shared. Talk about good times and make plans for more. :0)

      Last minute tips, I always prepare everything I can the day before, that way you can greet and enjoy your party. I either keep in the fridge or freezer and take out a few hours before the party and start heating or whatever last minute things need to be done.

      We can usually whip up a bbq with short notice. There’s always a variety of stuff in the freezer, like one chicken breast, or one steak left over from a pack of 4, a pound of burger, some hot dogs etc.

      I like to order pizza kits from a local pizza joint (dough, sauce, cheese, and all the toppings) and make them when I get a chance or right before we have people over so they are ready when we are and we don’t have to worry about paying for delivery or going out to get them after our friends have arrived.

      I keep a can of crescent rolls handy. There are a million appetizers you can make with them! I also keep roll sausage, bacon, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and grated parmesan on hand for that exact purpose :)

      My tips:

      Wine. And lots of it. This makes up for a lot.

      Also, keep disinfectant wipes in the bathroom and do a really fast wipe down of all the surfaces. It takes 5 minutes, max, and makes a huge difference.

      I keep some modern-looking white bowls of differents sizes in my home to throw chips, bread, salsa, etc. in when I am having a party to give it a great look without much effort. For another easy, but more fun, look, you can fill smaller white bowls and white glasses with various colored candy, seperating each color into a different container. It looks great but you don’t have to give much effort.

      I’ve gone out for parties in the past with my friends and slaved over the stove only for them to be amazed by the deliciousness that are the Ikea heat-and-serve meatballs…if only I had known they were that easy to please before I had slaved in the kitchen all day!

      Pumpkin dip (tastes like pumpking cheesecake)Combine with a hand mixer- 1 pck. cream cheese, 1 can pie filling, 2 c. powdered sugar, and spices to taste (cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg). Serve with graham crackers. This literally takes 5 minutes and tastes amazing!!

      I have appitizer shells in my freezer. I always have mayo, and frozen crab. If I have people over last minute, it only takes 20 mins to make up crab puffs that are to die for!!!!

      The tips above are pretty much what I follow. I make sure to have nibble snacks (pretzels, assorted nuts, chips, etc) on hand. And plenty of dip mixes. Most drop-ins BYOB so that part of the impromptu party is usually covered. All that’s left is to have a good time! ;)

      In college, alcohol was best thing you could have on hand. Parties now take a bit more effort, so I try to ask people to potluck as much as possible. Of course, like in college, you can never have too much ice, so make sure you have enough coolers or room in the freezer for it.

      I like to keep an extra bag of cooked, tail on shrimp in the freezer, as they thaw quickly and it is a quick appetizer that many people find special as they don’t have it every day.       For a party in a pinch, don’t make anything unless it is VERY easy and not a time constraint. Instead, buy things that can be mixed together to make something yummy…like chex mix! Buy numerous items that can be added to chex mix and then mix it all up! Easy! Thanks for the awesome giveaway.

      I always keep 2 trays of frozen appetizers in my freezer for emergencies. Wal-Mart and Sam’s carries wonderful trays that keep well in the freezer and I just whip one out and bake when I’m in a rush or having unexpected guests.
