Wordless Wednesday
December 22, 2009 | Filed Under Wordless Wednesday | 34 Comments
This year we decided not to put up our big, lighted Christmas tree and we used our small 4 1/2 foot tree instead. It’s sitting in the corner of our living room on an end table in the hopes that our youngest wouldn’t break our Hallmark ornaments. Plus it keeps some of the presents off the ground and less chance that the dog will pee on them

It’s so cute! We’d do something like this (or dog doesn’t pee, but she plays w/the ornaments), except our booger climbs!

@MochaDad Those are presents from Mom & Dad. Santa brings the “big” gift every year.
@Kim Thanks! So far so good! No broken ornaments and no pee

I can not stop laughing about putting the tree up to keep the dog from peeing on it! My dog was determined to pee on the tree last year every chance he got! I finally had to baby gate the tree!

I feel your pain. We keep ours in the dining room to keep little hands away from the tree and the presents! Works like a charm.
Allison on December 22nd, 2009 9:53 pm
I should have thought about getting a small tree this year my 1 year old has destroyed all of our ornaments. I guess next year I’ll be a little smarter! Happy WW!

Your tree is so cute! I actually did a post on our trees (from the past) and they were MUCH smaller than yours!

Purdy! I used to put a doggie fence around our tree. It kept kids and dogs out of it.

That’s a beautiful tree! We have a 4 1/2 foot tree this year, too. Can you teach me how to take pictures because yours looks a lot bigger than ours. *lol*
Kim on December 22nd, 2009 11:52 pm
Love the tree! I should have done that this year. Allie can’t resist taking the ornaments down to play with.

What is it about the tree that prompts dogs to pee? Thankfully our dogs haven’t ever done that.

Very nice! We also opted to do a smaller tree with only a few (very sparse) ornaments. We have a new edition this holiday and my toddler is a one-boy-wrecking-crew! A tree is a tree… small or big, it won’t ruin Christmas.
Happy Holidays!

Pretty! My Grandparents always put their tree up on a tall table, Now I know why!
Lorie Shewbridge on December 28th, 2009 6:29 pm
I think it is a beautiful tree and a great reason for your putting it up on the table. You had me laughing. Nano didn’t want to pee on ours, he just made himself comfy on the tree skirt.
It reminds me of our first tree after Bill and I moved in togetherl, we had to buy everything so we only had a 3 footer and we put it on top of an empty box.
Thanks for the memories.

Good idea to out it on a table. We had a few broken ornaments, but not due to my toddler. Our tree fell over!! My husband says I might need to downsize the number of ornaments or have 2 trees
