eggstrafresh Review and Giveaway (Closed)

It’s inevitable. You bring home fresh produce and before you know it, its past its prime. I don’t like grocery shopping so I try not to go very often and try to get enough food to last me at least a week sometimes more. Most produce won’t last that long unfortunately.

I love cooking with fresh products but with today’s economy I simply can’t afford to let food go to waste and therefore I’ve been buying less fresh ingredients. This leaves me feeling incredibly guilty about the quality of food my family is eating. Since our economy has been broken, I’ve noticed that my family has totally changed our eating habits and we’ve all gained weight.

I was recently contacted by eggstrafresh and asked if I would like to do a review of their new groundbreaking technology that helps keep food fresher, longer. Given the current state of our economy and our waistline, I said yes! Here is a little about eggstrafresh from their website:

There are two ways to use eggstrafresh You can use it in your refrigerator and your pantry.

Using eggstrafresh in your refrigerator – Place one eggstrafresh® in the center of the middle shelf of your refrigerator. eggstrafresh® will increase the shelf life of foods in your fridge including meats, fish, poultry, dairy, cold cuts, cheese, and leftovers. eggstrafresh® works in a standard refrigerator or approximately 17 cubic feet.
Using eggstrafresh in your pantry – eggstrafresh® can also be used in your pantry to increase the shelf life of breads, cereals, and dry goods. Place the breads within close proximity to eggstrafresh®. eggstrafresh® increases the shelf life of food in your pantry as much as 3-5 times.

I’ve been using eggstrafresh in my refrigerator and pantry for about two weeks now. I must admit when I took it out of the package I thought it looked really strange and really questioned if it would work. To be honest, I’m still not sure how it works exactly, but I do know that it does work.

We often have leftovers and I’ve noticed that our leftovers are lasting longer in the refrigerator. This is really beneficial for us because my children really don’t like eating the same thing two days in a row. I’ve also noticed that my produce is lasting longer too. We were given a ton of zucchini and it lasted longer than ever in the refrigerator with eggstrafresh.

Here is a list of items and their expected shelf life while using eggstrafresh:

Roasts: 5 days
Raw ground meat: up to 5 days
Cold cuts: opened up to 7-10 days
Cold cuts: unopened up to 10-12 days
Fresh, Whole Poultry: up to 3-5 days
Cooked Poultry: up to 5-7 days
Milk: up to 18-20 days
Asparagus: up to 5-7 days
Tomatoes: up to 5-7 days
Apples: up to 5-6 weeks
Avocados: up to 7-10 days
Grapes: up to 7-10 days
Strawberries: up to 9 days

I’m not sure how eggstrasfresh works, I just know it does. My fresh produce is lasting longer and our leftovers are too. Each eggstrafresh lasts for one full year and it requires no maintenance.
