I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration at Walt Disney World with my family this past week and if you have never been to Disney before with children in tow, just the thought of it can be quite overwhelming. When I received an email from Lisa Battista, the author of Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers, I knew it would probably be helpful for our Disney trip.
I have to give many thanks to Lisa for the extensive information she provides in her book. After reading through the book and becoming familiar with terms such as “Fast Pass”, I felt more comfortable in bringing the family along with me on this trip.
A little about the book:
Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers (2010) was written by a parent for parents who want to share the magic of Walt Disney World with their preschoolers. Walt Disney World Resort offers a unique vacation experience in a self-contained, easy-to-travel-to destination. However, with four theme parks, a myriad of on-site lodging, dozens of restaurants, and many recreational activities, planning a Walt Disney World trip with young children can be overwhelming. Battista saves parents hours of research by placing all the specialized information right at their fingertips.
Beyond the Attraction is filled with 168 pages of information about Walt Disney World. From preparing for your trip, lodging options, transportation, dining options and activities to do at each park, the book covers it all.
The book is an easy read and has easy to navigate chapters. Lisa has also included appendixes with an invaluable amount of resources from local stores around Walt Disney World to packing lists. If you are planning a trip to Disney, this book is a great resource and helped to make our trip enjoyable!

I will be looking to get this book we plan to go back later this year. We just up and went a few days before you all arrived. It was over whelming on a whim thats for sure.
It can really be overwhelming for children, being that I am the world BIGGEST Disney fan, my one piece of advice would be to NOT overdo it! Make sure you take a break during the day and let the kids decompress, and then go back when they are rested – it is better for everyone, kids and parents alike.
With that said, Crystal’s kids were fabulous!
