Over the last few years or so my husband and I have started to depend on our daily dose of coffee. With three young children, I find it necessary to caffeinate myself so that I can make it through the day with everything that has to be done. I’ve been eyeing the Keurig Brewing System for quite some time but I didn’t think that I could justify the cost. If you’ve been reading my blog for sometime, then you’re familiar with my frugal ways. I like the “finer” things in life, I just don’t like that “finer” price tag.
I contacted the folks over at Keurig and they sent me the Keurig Special Edition Brewing System and a selection of K-Cups for review. It arrived several weeks ago and not a day has gone by when I haven’t used it. It’s very easy to use and it saves this busy mommy time and effort. I did a quick video to show you just how simple it is using the Keurig Brewing System.
As if you couldn’t tell from the video, I love my Keurig. The Special Edition System is a mid-luxury system that offers style, functionality and convenience. The black and chrome gives it a very modern look and it looks very appealing sitting on your counter top. I’m not one for displaying my kitchen tools on the counter, but the Keurig is one that stays.
One of the things that I totally love about the Keurig Special Edition Brewing System is that it offers three different brewing size options. You can choose from 6 oz, 8 oz or 10 oz cup of coffee. The water reservoir holds about 48 oz of water so depending on your brewing habits, it can hold up to 8 cups of coffee.
It also has programmable features that include a digital clock, adjustable temperature and auto on/off functions. The digital clock allows you to program your brewer for a specific time frame and it will be ready to brew for you in the morning when you wake up. You can also program the brew temperature for a hotter 192 degrees or a cooler 187 degrees. I find this feature important when I’m brewing a cup of tea. From set-up to programming to brewing a cup of coffee, the Keurig Special Edition Brewing System is very user-friendly.
The Keurig Brewing System makes tea or coffee using K-Cups, individually sealed and measured portion cups of coffee or tea. You can get a variety of flavors that will suit everyone’s liking. We were sent 4 boxes of K-Cups and we’ve already ordered 4 more. Now, the K-Cups are more expensive than other brands, but if you shop Amazon or even Bed Bath & Beyond and use a coupon, you can get some pretty good deals. The 4 boxes (98 K-Cups) I just ordered were about $24, plus I got free shipping. Not bad if you ask me. I’ve enjoyed every flavor so far except for an extra bold dark blend that we received.
My husband and I have different taste when it comes to coffee, so the fact that I can make me a cup of my coffee and then make him a cup of his coffee is simply genius! My coffee doesn’t taste like his coffee, and his coffee doesn’t taste like my coffee. Plus, when we have friends and family over everyone can enjoy a different kind of coffee all from one machine.
This little machine has become my new favorite kitchen appliance. It provides me with a fresh cup of coffee or tea every morning and evening and does so with such efficiency and speed. The only improvement that I can think of would be an iced coffee feature. Not sure how that would work, but my hubby loves iced coffee and that would truly make a one-of-a-kind machine.
