About the film:
Dave (Jay Baruchel) is just an average college student, or so it appears, until the sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) recruits him as his reluctant protégé and gives him a crash course in the art and science of magic. As he prepares for a battle against the forces of darkness in modern-day Manhattan, Dave finds it is going to take all of the courage he can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”

Summer Bridge Activities Workbook Review and Giveaway (Closed)
June 30, 2010 | Filed Under Giveaways, Reviews | 76 Comments
Growing up my parents always pushed me to do my best in everything that I did and I’m now pushing my children the same way. I’m so thankful my parents pushed so that I could see my true potential. I ended up graduating at the age of 16 in the top 10% of my class and finished high school in 3 years. I attribute that accomplishment to my parents.
Now that it is summer break, I still require my almost 2nd grade daughter to do school work most days. I do it for several reasons, but most importantly I want to keep her brain working so that she’ll be ready when school starts again. We were recently sent a Summer Bridge Activities Book for grades 1 to 2 that helps prepare children for the 2nd grade. It includes activities for reading, writing, math, science, social studies and fitness. Also included in the back of the book is bonus flash cards and stickers.
The Summer Bridge Activities Workbook requires only about 15 minutes a day from you and your child but the learning will last a lifetime. The activities in this particular book are designed to review the skills that your child learned while in 1st grade and help prepare them for the skills that they will learn in the 2nd grade.
Taylor loves doing the pages in her workbook. And to be quite honest, she looks forward to it. She comes to the office with me a couple days out of the week and when she packs her bag for the day, her workbook is in there. I’ve learned that you have to make learning fun and entertaining and not something that causes tension or stress for your child. The Summer Bridge Activities Workbook is a great way to help your child without the stress of homework or grades.
Buy:
You can purchase Summer Bridge Activities Workbooks online for only $14.95. Personally, I think it’s a great price for a summers worth of learning.
Giveaway:
One (1) winner will receive one (1) free Summer Bridge Activities Workbook.
How to Enter:
Simply visit the website and leave me a comment below with which workbook you would choose.

Brew Over Ice K-Cups Review
June 30, 2010 | Filed Under Reviews | 4 Comments
Over the past year I’ve reviewed many products here on my blog but there are only a few that I still use almost every single day. My Keurig Special Edition Brewer happens to be one of those products. If you read my review, then you noticed at the end that I said it would be nice to have a cold coffee feature. Little did I know that Brew Over Ice K-Cups existed! I was so happy to be given the opportunity to try these out and tell you what I think!
Let me preface this whole post with a little background. I don’t like cold coffee, but my hubby does. In fact, the whole reason I included that a cold coffee would be a nice addition was for my hubby. We received samples of both the Brew Over Ice Coffee K-Cups and Tea K-Cups and the hubby and I had a good old time sampling the different varieties.
I’m not a fan of the cold coffee…period. I just can’t drink it. I tried and it just didn’t work out. My hubby on the other hand really liked it. So my conclusion on the Brew Over Ice Coffee K-Cups is if you like cold coffee, you’ll more than likely like these. The flavor is nice and in true Keurig style, it’s ready in a flash. But the Brew Over Ice Tea K-Cups are totally awesome! I always drink just your normal everyday brand of tea and I’ve never had tea that tasted so nice. It’s about time for another K-Cup order, and you better believe the Half & Half Black Tea & Lemonade will be on the list. You could really taste the lemonade, but it didn’t overpower the tea at all which made a perfect balance!
The Brew Over Ice K-Cups look identical to your normal K-Cups. If you keep them in a carousel like I do, it could get a little confusing because they are identical. However, it is clearly labeled “Iced Coffee” or “Tea” so it shouldn’t be that hard. You can also separate them and keep them on a different row just to make it easier.
Buy:
You can purchase Brew Over Ice K-Cups online at Green Mountain Coffee and until 08/16/2010, use code BREW-ICE to save $1.00 on each box of K-Cups!

Family Fun at SeaWorld San Antonio
June 28, 2010 | Filed Under Family | 4 Comments
A couple of weekends ago my family and I were invited out to SeaWorld San Antonio which is a short 3.5 hour trip from home. With all the potty stops and diaper changes I think it actually took us about 4.5 hours to get there though. Totally off topic but on our way there I couldn’t believe all the corn. I had no idea that there was that much corn grown in Texas. But back to my topic…there was a big sigh of relief from everyone when we pulled up to our hotel. Since we arrived in the evening and we were all tired from being in the car, we walked to dinner at Mama Margie’s which is conveniently located right next to the hotel. If you’ve never been to Mama Margie’s…you must! It was such a cool experience.
We arrived at SeaWorld at 9:30 on Saturday morning and we stayed until about 10:30 that night. It was a full day filled with so much fun. We rode some kiddie rides, watched half of a Pirate 4D film but had to leave in the middle because it terrified my 4 year old, got soak and wet on the water rides and enjoyed the company of new found friends.
One of the most amazing things about SeaWorld is all the live shows. It’s incredibly neat to see the animals interact with their trainers while performing for the audience.
Along with all the shows and entertainment, you can’t forget the thrill of the rides. My children were too small to ride many of the rides, but my 7 year old daughter rode the Steel Eel with me and I don’t think either of us will forget that! My 4 year old son loved the water rides and begged to ride them again and again…good thing for Quick Queue!
SeaWorld was so much fun and we enjoyed our time in beautiful San Antonio. If you are planning a trip to SeaWorld, I would highly recommend the All Day Dining plans and Quick Queue! It truly makes your time at SeaWorld so much more enjoyable.
I wanted to leave you with a clip from the amazing Azul show. I swear my husband should be in marketing because after we watched it he told me and the others there that “It’s like the ocean meets the circus” and he is totally spot on. I think it’s time for my husband to consider a career change. I took the recording with my Flip camera so my zoom capability wasn’t all that great but you can totally see that this is an awesome show and if you’re at SeaWorld you don’t want to miss this one.
I was provided with free park passes, dining plan and quick queue passes but that in no way alters my views or opinions.

I Made it to Michigan Folks!
June 28, 2010 | Filed Under General | 6 Comments
I’m here and I’m having such a great time. I’m staying at the Dearborn Inn and it’s a terribly old building but it looks really nice and the history behind the building is amazing. The staff is awesome and I’m enjoying my time with other women.
As you know the folks at Ford invited me out to learn about some of the new safety features that are currently available or will be available on some of their vehicles. As a mommy, it’s incredibly important that the vehicles I drive are safe for my family and Ford is rolling out some incredible safety features that I will tell you more about in another post.
I just wanted to give you a quick update but I should probably start getting ready for dinner!

Headed to Michigan to Meet With The Folks at Ford
June 27, 2010 | Filed Under General | 5 Comments
I’m getting on an airplane again this afternoon but instead of heading to California like last time, I’m headed to Michigan to meet with the folks at Ford. My husband owns and loves his Ford Mustang so this is something I’m totally looking forward to since we are Ford owners. While I’m in Michigan I will be learning about the new safety features on Ford vehicles and get a behind the scenes look on what goes on during the testing process.
I’ll probably be scarce the next couple of days so please allow extra time for me to respond to comments, emails, etc. When I get back home I’ll fill you in on what I learned.
