Being Beautiful Doesn’t Have to Cost a Fortune + Suave Giveaway (Closed)

Being an H-E-B Beauty Blogger has given me the opportunity to try new products, which I absolutely love.  Last month was Revlon Eye Makeup and this month is Suave Hair Care.

I have to admit that I’m not a fan of my hair.  It’s thick and completely unmanageable and many days leaves me ready to pull it all out.  As if that isn’t bad enough, my hair is extremely oily so it requires me to wash it every single day.  Every day I wash, I blow dry and I straighten.  It’s a complete chore and I hate it.

As I mentioned, this month I had the opportunity to try out a few products from the Suave Professionals line and I’ve been using them for about two weeks. Here are the products that I received.

  • Suave Professionals Sleek Shampoo
  • Suave Professionals Sleek Conditioner
  • Suave Professionals Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream
  • Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo Spray
  • Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Hairspray
  • Suave Professionals Heat Protection Spray
  • Suave Professionals Vibrant Shine Spray

During these past couple weeks, I’ve really come to like using the Suave Professionals Sleek Shampoo.  I love the lather and I absolutely love the scent. I wish there was such a thing as a scratch ‘n sniff monitor because it really smells good.  Although this shampoo is formulated for those with dry or frizzy hair, I found that it worked pretty good for my thick hair too.  But because of the formulation, I think it made my hair more oily than it usually is.

Because my hair is so oily, I was able to really test out the Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo Spray and I found it to be quite useful.  I’d heard ofprofessional mommy blogger Dry Shampoo before, but this was my first time trying it out.  Because my hair is so thick, I just used it on the top where people actually see to absorb the extra oil.  I did find that it was hard to rub in the excess powder at times.  Again, the smell is just wonderful.

Here are some tips for using Suave Dry Shampoo Spray:

  • Dry shampoo sprays on in a fine mist to absorb excess oil that accumulates on the scalp and hair, while providing volume at the root. For the best results, separate hair into sections, lifting to expose the scalp, and apply the product at the base of the hair. Then, work the product into the hair with your fingers. Dry Shampoo is a great solution for refreshing hair in between washes.
  • Use dry shampoo when the hair feels weighed down from natural oils. You can also use new Suave Professionals® Dry Shampoo as a style refresher throughout the day because it revives hair by adding volume and texture. It gives hair that little extra boost!

professional mommy bloggerI’ve also been using the Suave Professionals Heat Protection Spray like it’s going out of style.  As I mentioned, I blow dry and straighten and that is a lot of heat on my hair.  The Heat Protection Spray contains a thermal defense serum that helps protect your hair against heat damage.  After I towel dry my hair, I just spray it evenly over my hair and then use the dryer as I normally would. I’m not intentionally repeating myself, but again, the scent is very nice, especially when you are using all of them together.  My husband mentioned the scent several times.

I’ve also been using the Suave Vibrant Shine Spray.  This is quickly becoming one of my favorite products because it adds a wonderful brilliance to my hair and takes away the dullness.

I don’t use hairspray all that often because my hair doesn’t hold a style so all I do is straighten it.  The hairspray smells fabulous and has a fast-drying hold.  As a busy mommy, anything fast helps!  I didn’t get to use the Suave Professionals Anti-Frizz Cream because my hair isn’t frizzy. But, here are some tips for creating sleek and straight strands using the Anti-Frizz Cream.

  • Gently towel dry wet hair and comb out any tangles. Squeeze a small amount of Suave Professionals® Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream into hands and rub together. Apply to hair starting at the mid shaft and working through to the ends.
  • Choose the right brush. If you have curly hair, you might try a brush with natural bristles that will hold the hair tight while blowing dry. If you have Fine hair use a vent brush. Separate hair into small sections that fit your brush by twisting the top section of hair on the top of your head and hold away from your face with a clip.
  • Using your brush, pull a section of hair tight and straight while pointing the blow dryer at a downward angle toward the hair. Continue drying each section working from the bottom layer to the top.

I’m loving the way my hair looks when using Suave Professionals, and let’s not forget how good my hair smells.  I’ll leave you with these instructions for a cute little “up-do” that is sure to impress.

Modern Vintage Knot

Step 1. Wash hair and blow dry it with your fingers, finishing with a medium sized round brush to smooth the ends. Then spray Suave Professionals® Dry Shampoo all over her hair, focusing on the roots for extra texture.

Step 2. Create a side part using a tail comb and tease hair at the crown for volume. Then rub a bit of Suave Professionals® Anti-Frizz Cream on hands and apply to hair starting at the mid shaft and working through to the ends.

Step 3. Split hair down the center into two sections. Create a knot (like tying a bow) and secure it with bobby pins. Then, create another knot right under the first one (for a double-knot) and secure it with pins. Leave ends out for a loose, “undone” look.
