From Drab to Fab with the John Frieda Straightening Iron + Giveaway (Closed)

As a H-E-B Beauty Blogger, every month I get the opportunity to try something new related to beauty.  Some months I get to play with my nails, some months I get to try out face care and some months (like this one) I get to play with my hair.  I recently received the John Frieda Premium Straightening Iron (which surprisingly only retails for $49.97) and I’ve had the opportunity to use it on my thick, unruly hair.

John Frieda straightenerOn my recent trip to Florida, I packed my John Frieda Straightening Iron and put it to the test. My hair is extremely thick and at times can be downright difficult to control.  The John Frieda Straightening Iron took my hair from drab to fab in just about ten minutes.

The John Frieda Straightening Iron features advanced ionic conditioning which enhances manageability and leaves hair looking and feeling healthy, smooth and shiny. It also features advanced ionic power, with high heat up to 455 degrees fahrenheit, true ceramic technology, and 11 professional digital settings.

Because my hair is so thick, I love the extra long ceramic plates.  This makes it where I can do more hair with each swipe and I get done much faster.  In the above pictures, that took a whole ten minutes which is definitely not the 30 I’m used to.

The ceramic technology helps ensure that the heat is distributed evenly keeping my hair safe from damage.  While I obviously want my hair to look nice, I also want to make sure my hair is healthy. My hair is prone to flyways and static electricity, but the high-voltage ionic generator creates up to 50% more ions and the electronic ionizer generates negative ions, which neutralize positive ions in the atmosphere. This process flattens and seals the hair cuticle, reducing frizziness and flyways and eliminates static electricity.

I’m happy with the ease of use, the variety of digital settings and how fast I’m able to get the hair I want.  However, I think there might be a flaw in the design because when holding the iron while straightening my hair, my thumb would constantly hit the temperature buttons either causing the temperature to be higher than I wanted or lower than I wanted.  When I tried to put my hand higher so that I wouldn’t hit the temperature buttons, the heat from the plates would burn my hand.
