Since giving birth to my surro-baby three months ago, I’ve been on a mission to get my pre-pregnancy body back sooner rather than later. That means really watching what goes into my body and being more active.
During the interview with Gwyneth, she so kindly gave each of us a signed copy of her new cookbook. I’ve been thumbing through it since I got home and I can not wait to try some of the recipes. I’ve earmarked several of the recipes, like the Turkey Meatballs on page 105 and the Perfectly Cooked Quinoa on page 178. The Lentil Salad with Mustard + Tomatoes on page 196 was totally yelling at me the other night, but wouldn’t you know I didn’t have a lemon on hand.
I’ve been meaning to try many of the recipes, but with my current workload and schedule, it just hasn’t happened yet. But summer’s a-coming and I have great plans for this cookbook.
Gwyneth started writing cookbooks because all her friends would come to her for cooking advice. She had already started writing down her recipes, so sharing them in the form of a book just seemed like a smart idea. Plus, since her father showed her how to cook and food was a part of their relationship, she “felt it would be nice to write the recipes, and kind of pay homage to him and our relationship at the same time, and it was cathartic.”
During the interview she opened up about the reasons she began eating differently. I know for most people it takes a “wake-up” moment for us to begin making changes, and that is exactly what happened with Gwyneth. She had a health scare and she used food to correct it. When she was asked her best nutrition device, she said to “shop the periphery….that’s where all the fresh food is.”
Gwyneth really is a woman of all trades. She acts, she cooks…and she raps, while she cooks. Since their family is really close with Jay Z, her son is obsessed with hip hop. In her own words, “we are a hip hop household, a hundred percent.”
As I said in my earlier interview with Gwyneth, she is totally down to earth and so much fun. But, I still can’t believe I was in the same room with her and she SIGNED my cookbook.
