Ahhh summer break!
Now that the school year is done and my classroom is packed up, I get to have some fun at home with my three girls. It was absolutely heart-breaking having to go back to work after the baby was born, but I consoled myself with the fact that there were only 7 weeks remaining until the end of the school year.
Each day when I returned home from work, I was greeted by this smile. That sweet baby melts away all woes and brings a smile to my face.
Those sweet and sincere smiles are something I cherish immensely as a parent. Unfortunately, not all children have as easy of a time. That’s why Dreyer’s Ice Cream is partnering with Operation Smile in the Reason to Smile campaign. Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity, works to provide necessary surgeries for children born with cleft lip or palate globally. What are cleft lip and palate? A cleft is an opening in the lip, the roof of the mouth or the soft tissue in the back of the mouth. These medical conditions can make daily activities like smiling, eating, drinking, or even breathing a challenge.
But you can turn your scoops into smiles!
Participating in the Reason to Smile campaign is easy! Upload an image to the Dreyer’s Facebook page using the #ReasontoSmile hashtag in the caption, and you’ll be contributing to the effort to provide 500 life-changing operations. 500 operations, 500 reasons to smile.
I uploaded a picture of my baby to the Facebook campaign, but I know that all three of my girls will be smiling throughout the summer as we get to spend our days together. Since she arrived earlier this year, a lot of my attention has been focused on Baby Poppy. But this summer I am looking forward to creating new reasons for the big sisters to smile, too.
I knew a huge hit with them would be sampling Dreyer’s new limited edition summertime flavors: Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Fun ‘n the Sun Banana Split and Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Summer in the City Cheesecake. Both flavors are available in the Grand and Slow Churned variety, but these limited edition offerings will only be on store shelves until August.
Both girls loved the banana flavoring with streaks of chocolate and cherry throughout. I purchased the Grand version of the yummy treat this time, but I’m thankful they are available in the Slow Churned variety also. Dreyer’s Slow Churned ice creams have half the fat and one-third fewer calories than regular ice cream, so Mommy can have some too.
As we continue our summer vacation and we find a million more reasons to smile, I’ll be mindful of how much of a blessing those smiles truly are. I’m thankful that Operation Smile, in partnership with corporations like Dreyer’s, are able to bring smiles to children across the globe. I encourage you to upload your photos, using the #ReasontoSmile hashtag to help make 500 life-changing surgeries possible.
What do you say, can we count on YOU?
