I truly admire Kelly Ripa and the work she does to help contribute to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Kelly has once again joined forces with Electrolux to celebrate the launch of the new Electrolux stand-alone freezer and refrigerator! To make the celebration even sweeter, the “Emperor of Ice Cream” Stephen Bruce, owner and founder of Serendipity 3, the landmark New York City restaurant and dessert spot, is joining in.

Kelly and Bruce teamed up in June to make banana splits for a cause. You can dig in too by visiting www.Kelly-Confidential.com and building your ultimate banana split using virtual ingredients from classic whipped cream to caramel sauce to rainbow sprinkles. For each “split”, Electrolux will donate $1 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund as part of its $750,000 commitment to help fight ovarian cancer.

I am entered to win the new Electrolux freezer and refrigerator as a thank you for posting.

During Father’s Day Frosty Weekend (June 19 and 20), Wendy’s will donate 50-cents from every Frosty product sold to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, a non-profit public charity dedicated to increasing the adoptions of the more than 123,000 children in North America’s foster care system. The goal is to raise awareness and over $1.7 million for the Foundation. All of the funds raised will go towards their signature program – Wendy’s Wonderful Kids – which funds full-time recruiters in all 50 states to devote their full attention to matching prospective parents with waiting foster care children.

So, if you can, go to your nearest Wendy’s and buy a Frosty this weekend or go to Frostycard.com and send a personalized e-card and 50-cents with go to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to support their efforts in finding homes for the over 123,000 kids who are awaiting adoption.

As a mommy, I find it very difficult to read the statistics of children around the world that are suffering from hunger. But what some of us don’t understand is, there are children in our own towns, neighborhoods, etc. that are suffering from hunger too. For the third year in a row, Domino Sugar/C&H Sugar is the presenting sponsor for Share our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale. The goal is to raise money to fight childhood hunger across the U.S. by encouraging individuals, families, organizations and schools to hold bake sales and donate the profits to help Share our Strength provide millions of meals and snacks to America’s children.

The Bake Sale website is a wealth of information to help you organize your own bake sale.  The website includes recipes, tips and info, as well as signs and tags you can use for your bake sale.  With all the information available to you on the website, you should be able to have an incredible bake sale and make lots of money for Share our Strength.

This would make a perfect opportunity to teach your children about helping out others.  I plan on doing a mini bake sale with children and make them aware that they need to do their part at helping the hungry children.

The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely that of the blog owners. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider. I received a gift card to help purchase items for our bake sale.

Donate $1 to charity at any participating Wendy’s and receive a key tag that entitles you to one free Jr. Frosty per visit (with purchase) through the end of the year.  This offer is confirmed at participating locations in MD, VA, PA and IL.  If you are in a different area and have seen this at your local Wendy’s, please leave your location in the comments below.

Thanks, Deal Seeking Mom!

kelly ripas cakery for a cause

Electrolux and Kelly Ripa have proved to be an awesome combination when it comes to supporting ovarian cancer research.  They have joined forces with Buddy Valastro from TLC’s “Cake Boss” in their latest campaign, “Kelly’s Cake Off For a Cause”! Buddy is an accomplished master baker and cake decorator who recently decorated extravagant cakes in support of The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). To add to the excitement, five teams of baking enthusiasts were invited to take part in Kelly’s Cake Off, where they used what they learned from Kelly and the Cake Boss, to decorate their own cakes.

Although you don’t get to taste these virtual masterpieces, you can still weigh in on the results! By visiting Kelly-Confidential.com, you can cast a vote for your favorite cake from Kelly’s Cake Off. For every vote cast, Electrolux will donate $1 to OCRF as part of its $500,000 commitment to help fight ovarian cancer! You can even decorate and send a special virtual cake to a friend, family member or someone you love. For every cake sent, Electrolux will donate another $1 to OCRF.

If that’s not enough to get you to click over, everyone who logs on to the site and sends a virtual cake will be automatically entered for a chance to win every baker’s dream: a stylish new Induction Range from Electrolux.

So what are you waiting on? Go vote and support ovarian cancer research!

dove self-esteem fund logo

With all the Photoshop’d models on television and magazines, its hard to feel good about yourself.  Well that is unless you are one of them. I remember an incident with my daughter last year when she was in kindergarten. I was getting her dressed one morning and she told me she didn’t want to wear shorts because people at school said her legs were fat. I was shocked! This is kindergarten. I had no idea that she would have to deal with this type of criticism so young. What I think is even worse, Taylor was not “fat” by any means. She was a normal 5 year old little girl.

The Dove Self-Esteem Fund was established as an agent of change to inspire and educate girls and young women about a wider definition of beauty. Since 2005, they have reached over 3.5 million girls across the globe. Every time you buy Dove beauty care products your purchase supports the Dove Self Esteem Fund. This fall Dove launched the “Thank you for Making a Difference” program to thank supporters for building girl’s self esteem and to invite everyone to share their stories about making a difference in self esteem.

As a “Thank You for Making a Difference”, Dove will donate $1,000 to a national charity that supports self-esteem around the Holidays, on behalf of all the self esteem supporters. Also, you can support the Dove Self-Esteem Fund simply by entering a Dove UPC here. For every UPC code entered, Dove will donate $1 to inspiring self-esteem programs at a charity partner of your choice. You can choose one of the following: Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Girls Inc.

If you have a young daughter I highly suggest that you take advantage of Dove’s Online Workshop and begin to take steps to help build her self-esteem.

I received 2 “True You” workbooks, a plush terrycloth spa robe plus two Dove products for posting about the “Thank You for Making a Difference Campaign”.
