With the temperatures over 100 here in Texas, we have to find ways to stay cool and for us, it’s been ice cream. It’s a treat the whole family loves and brings a smile to each of our faces.
I consider myself to be sort of an ice cream snob and I know what I like. I’ve tried many different brands and I seem to always go back to the same brand because it’s creamy, it’s tasty and it comes in a variety of different flavors. When given the opportunity to try Dreyer’s Slow Churned Ice Cream, I was excited to bring it home to see what the family thought.
If you’ve never heard of Dreyer’s and you’re east of the Rockies, it is marketed under the Edy’s brand name. If you’ve seen it in the stores but never bought any, you don’t know what you’re missing.
When you look at the container and see the claims of half the fat and one-third fewer calories, to be honest, when I’m looking for ice cream, I’m not looking for the ice cream with less calories. I look for ice cream full of flavor and full of calories. But after trying Dreyer’s Slow Churned Ice Cream, if I can enjoy tasty, creamy ice cream with less of fat and calories, then by golly, I’m going to choose lower fat and fewer calories any day.
This summer, the lovely Brooke Burke has partnered with Dreyer’s Slow Churned Ice Cream to give away more than 25,000 free scoops of ice cream! For every “ice cream smile” photo uploaded to Dreyer’s Facebook page before summers end, $5 will be donated to Operation Smile, which is an international children’s medical charity. With your help, these efforts will help deliver more than 500 reconstructive surgeries to children around the globe suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.
In addition, of all the photos submitted on the Facebook app, ten lucky smiles will be featured in a Dreyer’s Slow Churned print ad. Plus, one lucky picture will win a coveted spot on the cartons of a Slow Churned limited-edition flavor, being re-introduced to store shelves in early 2013.
