Okay guys, this is a post about feminine products so there really isn’t anything here you are probably interested in. So hurry on, hurry on.
There comes a time each month that I wish I could just ignore but, unfortunately that isn’t possible. U by Kotex, a new line of feminine care products, launched the Declaration of Real Talk Campaign to help empower girls and women to take control of their health and bodies. And, for every person who joins the movement, U by Kotex will make a $1 donation to Girls For A Change, a non-profit that empowers girls to create and lead social change.
I was recently sent some samples of the new U by Kotex feminine care products. Actually they came just at the right time, if you know what I mean. When I opened the package I was surprised with such vibrant burst of colors. It seriously put a smile on my face. U by Kotex is so much different than any other feminine care product on the market. I’m pretty sure the bright colors appeal to teenage girls who are struggling to adjust to this change, but it also appeals to us older gals as well.
While I’m a tampon type of gal, I also use liners as well. The Barely There Thin Liners are just that…barely there. They are so thin and I couldn’t even tell that I had a liner on. So much better than the other brand I was using. The tampons are good but I would prefer that the part where you hold on to insert it was a little bit longer. I don’t like having to touch the area and I think if it were just a big longer all would be well.
There aren’t any current sample options, but feel free to print a coupon to save on your purchase.

“hurry on, hurry on”. Haha!
Thanks for the review. I’ll look for them next time I have to buy some.
Marc Kelly says
Does having different colors really make any difference?
crystal says
Actually Marc, it does 🙂 Anything is better than pale pink wrappers that make me feel like a feebly old lady…just sayin’!
Mari says
Actually the packaging looks kind of 80’s ish to me…but then again, I guess that is coming back into style??? The neon colors and the black seem quite retro. But if it works, it works! Walgreens has a sale with register rewards on these so I might have to snag a box.
Kaden says
Ok i bought the tampons today, and the applicator is supposed to pop out and click in place, well it clicks in place, but if you move it the slightest, the stick falls out. so you spend most of your effort trying to put the stick back on, not move whatsoever, because ANY movement makes the stick fall off. i was super excited cause the colors and the packaging look awesome. I loved that they were so small too, but for the effort of having to apply, im going with another brand.
Elizabeth says
I just got a box and put a tampon in (for the 1st time) and I think they are great! I can’t feel it and it was really easy to put in! I did not have the same problem as Kaden, so I will keep using them!
The bright colors and cool box where a bonus when buying them though!
Karen says
Okay, I was excited to try these because I always use the other kotex tampons. I did not like them. Because the stick to push them in was so short, I could not get them far enough in without having to stick my whole hand….Anyway, I bought the super plus as I do in the other tampons because I have a super heavy flow the first two days….these in no way compared to the regular kotex tampons that I use. It went right through in a matter of 30 minutes.
Lucy Brookes says
I had the exact same problem with the stick being to short. I feel the applicator doesn’t work well- it doesn’t push the tampon all the way out so you end up having to use your finger which is just gross.
Kari says
I had the exact problem, too. And plus, most of them i tried to use. the stick just fell out when i moved it any. I love the colors, but i can’t deal with the problems of applying them. /:

I’ve been wanting to try these tampons ever since they came out i was so excited when i bought them today, the colors were great and how compact they are were even better, but i was completely disappointed when i tried to put it in it wouldnt go, i push the stick as far as it could go but the tampon would still be in the applicator when i pulled it out. i end up having to push it up there with my finger. Im definitely going back to my regular brand. I have no time for the hassle.

so what girl likes their period? they dont! i have mine right now as im typing. haha…anyway. i was watching the tyra show and they advertised on there when they first came out. i immediately wanted to try them. this was like 2-3 months ago. i also LOVe their commercials.. haha!

Today I tried the pads from this line. The box and colors are cute n all. yah yah. But the pads are really not all that great. I got heavy flow pads and they do not hold up very much. The pad scrunches up. Tough to put on and take off.
I will be sticking to my Always Infinity….I dont care what color they are as long as they work!!! Those are amazing!!
Abby says
Unfortunately, Always lost me after they added to their commercials: “have a happy period, always.” I can’t deal with it.
Tori says
i’m going back to always infinite as well..i had the same problems with u by kotex.
Taylor says
I am a newby to tampons but these are the best I have tried! the colors are awesome and the size is so compact I can put them anywhere. These are by far the most comfortable because they seem to absorb 360 degrees. I also use the barely there liners daily because they are soo thin and i get a lot of discharge. The only brand i will buy.
arlie moore says
okay,
i bought my first box of these at meijer,
they were having a sale on them.
&& i was super excited, kus theyre so cute,
but then i tried using one (super) and it
wouldnt work. the tampon would still be in the applicator when i pulled it out.
im sticking with tampax pearl. (:
Tricia says
I had the same problem as another poster. I am a die hard Kotex user. I tried the new ones (super plus) and within the hour was leaking through. They aren’t nearly as absorbent as the “original”. I will be sticking to the original…. They are the best out there IMO. 🙂
Maddy says
I love love love these brands! They are so cute, and compact, Im actually excited to start my period! I also love Tampax Pearl, so I alternate, but U by Kotex is sooo fun!
liz says
i had the same problem as some other posters. the applicator on the tampon was flimsy at best and after insertion the tampon stayed in the applicator. i went through 3 before i finally just decided to manually insert the tampon since it was my last one in my purse! i am 28 years old so needless to say i’ve been using tampons for quite some time and have never been so frustrated. i am going back to tampax. the cute packaging is not worth the frustration. very disappointing.
Abby says
I know that I had the same problem with the first one I tried. With the second one, I made sure to pull the applicator out as hard as I could until I heard the click; I had no problem after that.
Beverly says
I purchased U by Kotex barely there thin liners on a promotion and just tried one. It sticks well to the underpants. On the other side, I believe the liner should be wider. There is too much paper surrounding the liner, and the paper seems to rub against my skin. I am used to wearing Kotex light days, and they seem to be much more comfortable. I’m 66 and usually wear a liner every day, but I prefer the liner with a wider pad.
Mariah J. says
in my opinion, these are great! I have used most of their products. but you know, not all ADULTS are going to like them because they’ll want to be biased with the products they’ve always used, and thats okay, because its what works for them. U by kotex is teen and young adult targeted, & I’d say they were more of a “starter tampon” than anything. maybe its because I’m young. but if you do it right and use the right absorbency, they go in smooth and come out nice. no pain. don’t expect too much out of them, y’all. :/
C says
U by Kotex pads have a line of some material which runs along the pad on both sides. This ‘line’ is non absorbent and if stuff doesn’t hit right down the middle of the pad, it will leak through the sides, even on a light day. The worst pad I have ever used. A piece of trash wrapped in pink.
Lilly says
I have been wanting to try these, but im really new to tampons, and from what i have heard they are not that great. I have a light to moderate flow and would love to try the regulars but im nervous cuz people have said that they leak in 10 min!!!! thank u for the review!!
claudia says
I am new to using tampons, and I got these to try. I LOVE to colors and packaging! They were so much easier to insert than tampax pearl! I wore it to gymnastics which lasted three hours, and I removed it when I got home. The only problem I had was: it hurt coming out! But that was probably because my flow was so feather light that most of the tampon was still dry (Ive learned my lesson…) … next time I’ll try it when I have a much heavier flow and I’m sure it will be great!!
Sandy says
I recieved some free samples of this product, and I was thrilled with the idea of the extendable applicator, the tampons are very compact and easy to carry around. However, I was very disappointed when I used them, and I do believe I gave them a fair chance, but this is the first time I’ve ever had so much trouble with an applicator. Several times I’ve had to remove the tampon and reinsert it manually to get it to stay in comfortably, and this is the first time I’ve ever had a problem where a tampon has lodged itself in SIDEWAYS (and I’ve been using tampons for more than ten years) . The absorbancy is about average for a tampon, so when I could actually get the sucker in, I wasn’t disappointed with that factor.
I do love the ‘barely there’ liners, they are perfect to wear in addition to a tampon to prevent embarrassing staining, and I can’t even tell I’m wearing it. Their other pads are no different from most others on the market. I’ve bought plenty more barely there liners since this product has been released, but I’ll leave off the rest of the brand. ‘cute colors’ are not worth the extra hassle.
Lisa says
I hate these tampons. The stick to push them is way to
short and they give me the worse stomach pains ever. I never get
stomach pains with my period ( my periods are very very light) or
with my other brand of tampons. When I use these the pain is
unbearable but when I take it out the pain goes away shortly after.
I think I will stick to my reguar tampons.

I loooovve looovvvee these pads but not tampons they suck i leaked at school!!! ughhh the tampons dont go up far enough and they hard to push up and stuff and the panty liners suck too cuz they leak! what pantyl liners leak??!! but use the U by Kotex pads they rock and r super absorbent!!
Kristin says
My friend lent me a pad by this brand and i went to buy a box later. I love them and the liners are so thin i can’t feel them.

After seeing a lot of negative reviews I’ve decided to write my own. I’m 15 and have had my period about 4 years now. I’ve been using tampons for just about 4 years too. I can NOT stand pads they annoy me and don’t make me feel sanatary, but hey, that’s just me. Anyways after seeing the Tyra Show and all the commercials I thought I should give them a try. I LOVE these. No leakage, no hard to use applicator. Just amazing. (: We can’t carry around purses in school so having a regualr sized tampon on my pocket isn’t very attractive. These are so compact. 😀 I’ve used soooo many different tampons and these just stand out. Thank you U by Kotex. 😀

i dont like the pads. whatevers on them gave me some sort of rash….ive never had this from any other brand… but these….
Courtney says
I tried these for the first time and was VERY pleased…………until, I got some kind of allergic itchy reaction from them a few days after using them. I’m not sure what they used in these pads but they do not agree with me at all!….I’ll pass on these and just stick with my stayfree thin pads, those never let me down…
Jen says
I just started using these a couple of days ago and would get an itchy reaction after a few hours. On a flight I was just on I think I ended up with some sort of allergic reaction to them because my “area” is now painful and welted.

I have been using tampons for a few years. kotex u is the best brand that works for me. Easy to insert, fits well so i dont even feel its there, so easy to remove and no leaks whatsoever. Those of you who have been having trouble inserting, or find the push-stick too short, or it falls off, i think you’re doing it right. Kotex U is hassle free. I recommend them.
Chanell says
Maybe im doing something wrong… I tryed these for about 3 months. The first month it was fine with a tiny bit of leakage. And it got more and more. Today (month3) i had to leave school early… I was using a tampon AND pad. But i leaked so much my pants where ruined.. So yea maybe im not doing something right..
Jae says
I was excited to try these. The packaging and the colors were cute. However using the tampons were a nightmare. I’m almost 27 and have been using tampons for years but have never had this much trouble. Like others have said, the applicator is too short and doesn’t insert all the way, causing discomfort. I’ve gone through several…I think I’ll go back to Playtex.

I refuse to buy this brand again. I have been using the pantie liners for ligh
t days and for when I have slight discharge and I fell asleep with one on and I woke up the next morning with a swollen rash down there. It hurts to walk and even sit down. It feels kinda like chafeing. But worse. I feel like I just went through labor again. I have never had a problem with pantie liners so this was a first for me. Just thought that I would put my two cents in.

Yesterday I started my period. I went to the store and bought some tampons. When I got home, I went
to the restroom and tried them out. I absolutely loved them. I usually wear pads because they are more comfortable. After I wore that tampon, I don’t think I’ll ever wear pads on a daily basis ever again. Plus they are really comfortable and easy to insert! 🙂 I think this is my best period ever (p.s. I am 17)

I have been using the pads tampons and liners for a couple of months now. At first I really liked them. Easy to use once you figure out that it clicks when it’s pulled out far enough. But they don’t hold. I started out using super and it didn’t really come out on my underwear but when I actually went to the bathroom and “wiped” it was like there was no tampon in there was so much “stuff” on the toilet paper. Today I bought the super plus hoping I just had the wrong size. But I had the same problem still yet. Liners are ok. They do what they are supposed to do. I like the pads at first too but once you use them for a few days straight it is like diaper rash. That’s what I call it anyway. I think I will go back to Always and Tampax pearl next month. Maybe these would work better for someone just starting with a lighter flow. I am 21 and have had periods for nearly 10 years with heavy flow.
Lauren says
I just recently tried these tampons. I am 16 and have a generally light flow. I found no problem with them. The applicator did not give me any trouble. They are nothing SPECIAL besides their size but they are not bad either. Maybe it is just because I have a light flow.

I was out of town and got my period. Ran to store and bought goods. I purchased the Kotex u barely there for the first time. Started using them that day. The next day I had horrible itching and welts all over down below. It was horribly uncomfortable. Didn’t realize it could have been from the pads. I ended up at the doctors office 5 days later after self treating for possible yeast infection and not getting anywhere. I took baths with baking soda to ease the itching, that helped for a bit. Used a cortisone cream which also helped a bit. The dr checked for yeast, that wasn’t the issue. Gave me antibiotics incase it was bacterial and told me to keep doing the baths with baking soda and continue using the cortisone cream. It took a good week and a half to 2 weeks before it subsided. Well, got my period again and used a Kotex u again. Just one time for an hour or so cuz that’s all that was in my purse. Low and behold, I woke up last night itching horribly. I write this as I’m soaking in a baking soda bath AGAIN! I will be through them out and never using a Kotex product again.

I brought the U by Kotex tampons and got a very bad itchy rash and irritation in my vagina as well. I was freaking out the worse feeling EVER! Sorry not for me becareful with this brand.
