Over the summer I did so much traveling and it’s a pain in the behind to try to remember to pack your laptop charger, your iPhone charger, your iPod charger, the Nintendo charger…you getting my point? Like packing for five people isn’t enough already. But heading away from home without these necessary items can really leave you in despair, especially if the red light on the DS comes on. I recently received a box of Powermat goodies including the Portable Mat, Receiver Case for the iPhone and the Back Panel for the Nintendo DS Lite and packing just got a whole lot easier. In addition to easier packing, you can now charge your electronics without the tangled mess of cords. The technology behind Powermat is totally changing the way we charge, for the better.
As most of you know in early August I headed to New York City to attend BlogHer and it was my first time traveling with the Powermat. I took my Portable Mat and already had the Receiver Case on my iPhone so packing for the trip and charging while I was there was a breeze. The Receiver Case fits on the iPhone quite nicely and it actually looks good although I would like to see the case come in different colors because right now it only comes in black. In the seven weeks or so since I’ve been using the Powermat Receiver Case on my iPhone I have noticed that the matte finish on the case is starting to peel is some areas. Although it doesn’t effect how the phone charges, it does effect the appearance.
The Portable Mat is perfect for those of us with multiple devices in the house. This mat allows you to charge up to 3 Powermat-enabled devices and one USB power port all at the same time. It also includes the Powercube Universal Receiver that comes with eight extra tips. It works with hundreds of devices to eliminate your drawer full of wires. But I think the best part is that it folds up into a small square, it includes a carrying case and it doesn’t take up much space in the your luggage.
The Powermat Back Panel for the Nintendo DS Lite is a must-have for those families with gamers. My two older children both have a Nintendo DS and charging with the Powermat is so much safer with children. To charge their DS all they have to do is place their DS on the Portable Mat and it starts charging. No wires, just place it on the mat and go!
The Powermat has really made my life so much easier. Not only during packing, but even just little things like trying to plug in the iPhone charger. I can’t tell you how many nights that I fumbled around with that charger trying to get my iPhone plugged in. Now, it truly is a breeze and my nightstand looks so much better too.

Good review. I’ve been looking at these Powermats as possible Christmas gifts for our two sons, who are both in college and own an assortment of gadgetry that constantly needs charging.
Thanks for mentioning the peeling of the iPhone receiver case; I’m always suspect of reviews that only offer up praise. Knowing that the case may do this doesn’t affect my desire to buy the Powermat, but it’s good to know that it may peel a bit over time.

We are reviewing one of these also, and I agree – it is awesome!

That looks great and would certainly be easier then finding plugs for everything. I wonder if it would work with my DSLR?

I would love this because me and Melinda have different Blackberries so we need two different house chargers which is a total PITA. Thanks for the review. I need to look into this.

This could be a lifesaver for our family. I wish it worked for my iPad, too, though.

We have no use for one of these right now, but I can so see needing this in the future when the kids are older with phones and games of their own.

Oh, WOW — that would be perfect for Hubby and me; do you know if it works on Androids or just IPhones?

I saw this awesomeness first hand as your BlogHer roommate. 🙂 It was really so cool. I think I’m going to get a PowerMat for my husband for Christmas.
Thanks for showing me how it works and for the review!
