If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, then I’m sure you’ve seen at least one of my gripes about having to go to the grocery store. I absolutely loathe the grocery store. The thought of battling the overrun aisles with people who look dazed and confused is definitely not my idea of fun. When I was asked if I would like to review a copy of the 70 Meals, One Trip to the Store Cookbook, um, count me in! Just the thought of being able to make 70 meals with only one trip to the store absolutely sold me.
70 Meals, One Trip to the Store is written by author, speaker, kitchen consultant and cooking instructor, Kelly Donlea. She is passionate about her products and system and also manages an online forum, Dinner 911, that is dedicated to people with dinner emergencies. She has also been on TV and various radio shows. Sounds like she knows her stuff, right?!?
I’ve had the book for several months now and I love the simple strategies in the book. If you are slightly less domesticated than the majority of the human race, kinda like me, I think you’ll love it too. Through this book, Kelly teaches what “smart” ingredients to keep in the pantry that can be used to make a variety of meals. The book also includes a semi-annual shopping list and a weekly shopping list for fresh products.
I really like the simple recipes in the cookbook. The ingredients are normal every day ingredients that you can find at your local grocery store and you don’t have to have super chef skills to create a tasty meal.

That sounds interesting! I love to cook, but I’m also very busy, so I love simple recipes too – especially with versatile ingredients that I can use for lots of other things. Sounds like a good read!

I love the grocery store. I live walking distance. I go constantly to see the deals. Then on the other hand I am a miserable cook. I think my daughters (who are great cooks), starting cooking at 6. I think they did in defense of their lives. Oh I could tell you cooking stories. I need a basic cookbook, no fancy ingredients, no cooking terms a 4 yr old does not know. Bake, broil, boil. fry, stir and beat, that is all I want.
