While I technically don’t have “babies” anymore, my three children will always be my “babies”. For the last 7 years, I’ve trusted Dr. Smith’s to keep my children diaper rash free and it hasn’t failed me yet. When I received an email about working with Dr. Smith’s I was excited about the possibilty because I used the brand with all three of my children. In fact, my new nephew also uses Dr. Smith’s because of a recommendation from my mother and I.
Not that I’m an expert in parenting but over the last 7 years I’ve learned a few things about raising children.
- You no longer have the ability to get your nightly beauty rest.
- Your bed is no longer just your bed.
- When you think the kiddos are asleep and you can enjoy quite time with your husband, your children are equipped with a no quiet time radar.
- Poop comes in all shapes and colors and you’ll wonder when the heck your kid swallowed “that”.
- Those sweet little kiddos sure can produce some really nasty smells.
There are just some things the hospital staff should be required to tell you when you leave to bring that sweet bundle of joy home with you!
So, in all seriousness, I lived and swore by Dr. Smith’s while my children were in diapers. If I noticed things were getting the slightest bit red, I slathered on Dr. Smith’s and by the next diaper change Dr. Smith’s has already done it’s job.
What I liked about using Dr. Smith’s other than it worked like a charm was it was easy to apply and has the consistency of a cream. I also liked that it didn’t have a unpleasant odor and that it was easy to wipe off at the next diaper change.
In my 7 years of motherhood, I’ve learned that being a parent is by far the hardest job – ever! Not that I don’t adore that role, because I do, it’s just that it’s hard. There isn’t an instruction manual and it’s pretty much just learn as you go. I’ve learned that I have to parent each child differently. What works for one, doesn’t necessarily work for the other. Sometimes finding what works can be quite challenging.
I think the best advice I can give any mother is to just slow down and enjoy your children. You can learn so much by just slowing down and watching your children grow up to be amazing little people.

Some of the best advice given to me: each baby is different so what works for one child, may not work for another. If your child is still needing the binky or wearing diapers in high school, call me. ( The Dr. told me this as I was feeling pressured by others that I didn’t have my child on ‘schedule”) I also held my kids a lot and you know what? they are not spoiled. They are compassionate human beings:)

don’t be afraid to ask for help. the infamous “rest when your baby sleeps” is the best advice ever. with my first daughter, i don’t think i slept for any useful length of time for the first 2 weeks. i was a mess. but she was the most beautiful thing that i had ever seen.

Everybody needs to get enough sleep, especially baby’s main caretaker. If baby is fussy a lot and you’re not getting enough sleep, hire a sitter to come in for a couple of hours a day – or trade off with another tired mom – and take a nap yourself.
