Celebrate National Pound Cake Day

Did you know about National Pound Cake Day?  How cool that a dessert has it’s own day, right?  National Pound Cake Day is March 4th and I’m going to share a yummy recipe using Pound Cake that I think you are going to totally enjoy, just like we did.  We tried two different recipes using the Sara Lee Frozen Pound Cake and both recipes were a success, but this one was our favorite.

Packed Paninis

Prep Time: 20 minutes + Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients
• 1 package (16 ounces) Sara Lee® Frozen Pound Cake, thawed
• ½ cup creamy peanut butter
• 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
• 2 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping
• ¼ cup butterscotch chips
• ¼ cup raisins
• ¼ cup chopped pecans
• 1 small banana, chopped
• 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions
1. Cut pound cake into 16 slices.
2. Combine peanut butter, cream cheese and ice cream topping, mixing until well blended. Stir in butterscotch chips, pecans and banana.
3. Spread one pound cake slice with peanut butter mixture; cover with second slice of pound cake. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
4. Brush both sides of the panini with butter. Grill sandwich on a panini grill about 2-3 minutes or until crisp and golden brown.

Cook’s Tip: If you don’t have a panini grill you can use a large non-stick skillet to cook the sandwiches.

I didn’t follow the recipe exactly and omitted the raisins, pecans, bananas and butter and I added 1/4 semi-sweet chocolate chips and PAM Butter Spray.

    I’d like to make the Berry Pound Cake Parfaits. I reguarly use pound cake in quick desserts. Take a slice of pound cake, open a can of sliced peaches to put on top and a plop of cool whip finishes it off. Thank you for the chance to win!

    I would make the Taste-of-the-Islands Banana Foster Trifle. Looks really yummy. Of course I’d probably just eat it as is. The aroma alone brings back memories of my grandparents who used many PF products when I was growing up.

    I’ve always eaten my pound cake plain so this was an interesting search for me. The S’mores Pound Cake Squares appealed to me the most. Its just four ingredients and really easy to make. Its sound like it would taste delicious.

    i like the recipe for Conversation Heart Sandwiches i think the fact that it’s centered with pound cake makes it a heavier bite to fill you up than a light cake and although this is heart shaped theme idea which i like, i think you could change it up with lots other cutter shapes for more themes making it very versitile to use such as easter with egg decorated shapes, little flags for 4th july etc, i will be making that recipe with the yummy pound cakes by sara lee
