Poppy the big has big dreams—lots of them! But following her dreams isn’t always easy and whenever Poppy thinks it might be time to give up, her family reminds her to “Dream Big!” While on a “pig’s day out,” she has so much fun ice skating that she doesn’t even notice those around her who think pigs can’t skate…and without even knowing it, she achieves her dream while doing something she loves!
This book was written by Kristi Yamaguchi, who is best known for her figure skating career. You may also remember her from winning the big mirror ball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2008.
I just have to say that this book was adorable. I read this to my daughter before bedtime last night, and even though it was a stall tactic, she asked me to read it again. She enjoyed it just as much as I did. It is a cute little story of Poppy the pig, and the people in her life that support her. Her mother, grandparents, and best friend were always there to cheer her on no matter what she tried.
The pictures were whimsical and colorful. The book was illustrated by Tim Bowers and I really feel like he captured the essence of this story. Poppy truly came to life on the pages.
One of my favorite things about this book was although it came with a book sleeve, which by the way was adorned with pink and purple glitter, although not the kind that will get all over your house, the book cover was also illustrated. I am not a huge fan of the book covers because they get beat up; however, I love that I could take this one off and still see the cute little cover.

I have heard of this book and would love to get it for my daughter! WHen I was a young girl I used to twirl in circles in my yard pretending I was Kristi, no joke! I’d love to pass on a book written by one of my idols to my daughter.

My daughter loves glitter but like you I don’t like cleaning it up. The book sounds like it has a nice storyline too. Thanks for sharing this review.
