We have a sweet little Maltese-Poodle mix dog named Mort who has naturally long growing hair that we have to get groomed pretty frequently. I just recently had him groomed shorter for the Spring and apparently had it done a little too soon. Our weather took a cold turn once again and our little friend Mort has been rather cold. Luckily, we were given the opportunity to review the Pet-ZZZ-Pad which is a rather handy heating pad for pets. It claims to relieve joint and muscle pain and since our Mort is over 11 years old, we figured his joints might like the relief he would receive from its’ warmth as well.
The one we were offered is the regular size which is intended for pets 10 lbs or less and retails for $19.99. Now, our Mort weighs a little bit more than that, but he is still on the small side, so the size seemed to suit him well enough. He just kind of curled up his body and was able to cover the entire surface. What I thought was really cool too, since it was initially a concern of mine, is that, it is weight sensitive and turns on when your pet lays down and shuts off on its’ own when he gets up. That is a terrific feature that I would expect to pay much more money for. We didn’t have to worry about plugging and unplugging. We just had to find a comfortable spot near an outlet and moved his bedding over to the new location. It took him about 3 tries, with some coaxing, before he sort of “got it” and figured out it wasn’t going to hurt him or anything. He tends to be suspicious of anything new anyway, so I was rather pleased it didn’t take him that long.
It is a comfort to know that the product is endorsed by the American Kennel Club and The Cat Fanciers Association. It is always nice to have “experts” officially endorse something. I also like that the cover is removable for washing and is a soft plushy beige fabric. It also comes with a cord that has the first 3 feet covered in a sort of protective tubing and an additional 6 feet or so of traditional electric cords that plugs into a standard outlet. That makes it nice if you would like for your pet to have his bed farther away from an electrical outlet. Overall, I would say Mort and I are both happy with the product. I am glad to know that he has a nice warm spot to finish out the cold weather and would recommend this product to anyone that lives in a colder climate or likes to have their air conditioner on. Very nice product!

What a nice thing to do for your pet! If we as humans would like a product that keeps us warm like a heating pad, it makes natural sense that a dog would enjoy one too!
