Over the past month or so, my little dachshund has been trying a new dog food. We gradually switched him from his regular food over to the Pedigree brand and we’ve been watching how he is doing on the new food.
Initially he did have some problems with the switch and it was a little rough on his digestive tract, but he has recovered nicely and seems to be doing well.
During these last few weeks, I’ve noticed that his skin doesn’t seem to be as flaky as it has been in the past. I’m not sure if it’s weather related or if the new food is helping with the dryness of his skin. Because his skin doesn’t seem to be as dry, his coat is looking a little shinier as a result.
Given our experience with the food, my initial perceptions of the brand have changed. I always thought of Pedigree as a brand I would get, only if I could not afford the pricier brands. I will continue to use Pedigree as long as my little dachshund continues to do well with it. I would recommend Pedigree, but only you know your dog’s needs so please make an informed decision for yourself and your dog.

We used to use pedigree a long time ago but switched to Eukenewba when we had problems with dog gas. It’s good to know that if we get a dog again we could just go back to pedigree.

Good to hear that your dog’s coat is shinier and not as flaky! My dog sure loves Pedigree too. I wonder if it is the taste, but whatever it is, he sure gobbles it up!
