There’s nothing like waking up in the morning with your neck in knots and feeling like an eighteen wheeler just ran over your back. Especially on a beautiful Saturday with the sun shining and the birds chirpin’.
Ugh.
It’s seriously time for a new mattress. The mattress that we are using is the mattress my husband had in college. I’m not sure how long mattresses are supposed to last, but I’m guessing that ours has run its course.
We’ve known we needed a new mattress, but we thought we’d wait until our house sold until we purchased a new one. But as we all know, this economy is not conducive to home selling. So here we are, six months later, still with an unsold house and an old mattress that beats me up every single night.
With the numerous mattress options available, the husband and I don’t even know where to begin to look. Do we need a soft fluffy mattress, a hard firm mattress or something in between? We’ve never purchased a mattress for us (only for the children) and have no idea where to even begin.
Sleep Number. Tempur-Pedic. Memory Foam or springs. You see why I’m stressing out. Too many options!
I was doing some online research and found a website, Mattress Find, which help consumers compare different mattress brands and gives you the information you need to choosing the right mattress. I’m thinking a Tempur-Pedic, but I can see the hubby wanting the Sleep Number. He’s a sucker for remotes!

I go back and forth between the two also. We bought a ‘knock-off brand’ TempurPedic and it is garbage! So make sure you get the real thing if you do buy one 😉

We bought a trump bed and i will never buy another brand again. I have ms and hate the tractor feeling. Havent had it since we bought this bed. Worth every penny. They say average life of a bed is 10-15. Years.

Well then it seems ours needs to go!

I’m a big fan of pillow top mattresses myself! In theory a Tempur-Pedic would be nice but I get annoyed with my Tempur-Pedic pillow and have to rotate it out, so I don’t know that having a mattress that I can’t switch out would be a good idea.

That is my fear with the Tempur-Pedic. Choices, choices. Why does it have to be so hard??

The mattress that my children are sleeping on came from their dads bed .But I’d say explore all of your options and then go with the pros and cons of each one.I hope this works.

I’m not too good about the mattress thing either. We’ve always kept our mattresses for so long and the pain they cause is just crazy. I would definitely go with something in between though. I always heard too fluffy is bad, and hard is going to give you the same effect I would believe even though I heard having a hard firm one helps you sleep better. I find that hard to believe. Good luck with whatever you decide!!

I have a Sealy posturepedic mattress with the pillow top. For me I like it, but I want a king size bed. We had bought our bed on sale about 8 years ago. I have been wanting one of the Tempur-Pedic beds for quite some time though. The commercials make them look so comfy!

Soft for me please ! I tried harder ones and passed a week without closing an eye. Just a simple soft one nothing else.

We recently bought a generic Tempur-Pedic and it is better, to me, than our 15 year old waterbed, but Bill HATES it… we really should have waited, saved our money and gotten the Sleep-Number.
We were going to do the same as you, wait until we sold our house and built the new one, but we haven’t been able to sell ours either.
Maybe we will both be able to sell soon and get a good bed, I’ll cross my fingers, toes and eyes for you. =)
