When it comes to brands that I have trusted in helping me to raise my children, Step2 happens to be one of them. We’ve been purchasing their products for the past eight years and we will continue to do so.
We recently received the Step2 Lifestyle Legacy Kitchen for review and boy did it come in a huge box. While the hubby and I were putting the kitchen together, the kiddos were having a blast playing in the cardboard box.
While there were plenty of pieces to assemble, the directions were clear and we were able to get it assembled fairly quickly. In addition to assembly, we also had to put on plenty of stickers. If you have a steady hand, this shouldn’t be a problem. So far, we’ve had no problems with the stickers peeling off or pulling away from the plastic.
Oh and don’t forget the batteries — just sayin’!
The last few weeks, the children have been having a blast playing with their new kitchen. The kitchen is brown and red and is perfect for little boys and little girls. We’ve owned another kitchen and I think the Step2 Lifestyle Legacy Kitchen looks much more stylish and elegant and features stainless steel appliances and black counter tops.
My children have their own space with real kitchen-like features such as the multi-level counter tops with sink & swivel faucet and two stove burners with clicking knobs. Plus, with the sounds of the sizzle on the stove, the beeping of the oven and the ringing of the phone, their imagination runs wild with pretend play.
The kitchen comes with an assortment of accessories including two full place settings, 5-piece “copper” serving set, salt and pepper shakers, three storage bins, coffee pot, hand-held phone, pot holder, two faux woven storage baskets, one recycle bucket, a shopping bag and “copper” pot and pan set with lids. That’s a bunch of stuff, but unfortunately, it does not come with any food. You’ll need to purchase that separately.
Overall, the children are having a blast playing with the Step2 Lifestyle Legacy Kitchen. They’ve served up many of dishes in their “restaurant” and have played really well together. There is enough space for all three of them and each of them can all be doing something different. Most of the time my daughter is the server and the two boys take turns cooking and washing all the dishes.

Such a great kitchen for the price. Bummer about the food – but hopefully they can be creative!

Wow!! How much fun is THAT? I love it! It comes with everything they need to get in there and cook doesn’t it? Looks super durable too. Love it!

Ya, too bad no food comes with it. They should change that and start including it! But, that is an awesome kitchen, wow!!!

I almost got my son that for his bday last month but decided to hold off on a kitchen until doing more research so I’ll be getting one for Xmas- and based on this review I’m thinking I was right to want this one before!
Sam says
That is very fancy! We have a smaller kitchen and it didn’t come with food either. I have found great deals on play food though.

Now, that is one heck of a playkitchen! Alot fancier than what my kids had. They are now 18, 21, and 24. And thinking about it, maybe I should have had them spend more time playing kitchen than sports because then they’d be better cooks now! All three are fixing their own meals!
Tricia says
Love all the accessories this comes with . You hardly ever see that with products that come out today.
Dee says
Wish I was a kid again.
This is much cooler and safer than the metal appliances they made when I was a kid with sharp edges and corners. Can you say multiple cuts, scrapes and bandages?

That is awesome. When your children grow older and they start a family it will not be hard for them to cook nor to clean up after their selves since they had a miniature stove when they were smaller.By the way that is one responsibility that your children could have if they donot have one.Let me add this to it that’s a big responsibility.

I try to make sure my daughter helps with clean up each night after supper. I think the boys are still a little young at this point.

Such a cute kitchen. When my daughter was 2 we bought her a Step2 kitchen. Then when she was 3, she just had to have the Dora kitchen. So now we have 2 kitchens, but my son prefers the Step2 over Dora.

You want for nothing with that kitchen. It has everything!!!

Zoe has a similar Step 2 kitchen and loves it. We thought it was a great price for everything that came with it plus the real sounds!

That is one very elaborate looking play kitchen….it even includes a phone, a coffee pot and what looks like faux granite counters. Very hip!

My daughter’s father is got her this kitchen for Christmas. I would like to get her some play food to go with it too. I know Step2 has a package with their brand of food, but I think the Melissa and Doug food looks more realistic. Will the Melissa and Doug food fit in this?
Jennifer says
Wow, I wrote that poorly. That is what happens when I try to multi-task with business and personal tasks.
Crystal says
I don’t have any of the Melissa & Doug food so I’m not sure. So sorry about that.
Leila says
Ugh, ours must be warped because the plates roll right out of the cubbies… the microwave doesn’t close properly… and the phone falls right out of the clip. Spent 2 hours assembling and applying stickers…. toddler’s bday is in the morning. 8(
