Let’s start by looking back to — oh — four years ago. My daughter had just turned four and that meant we could get her into some of the local group sports programs. Her father and I were so excited and decided to sign her up for soccer.
Big mistake!
The whole thing, from beginning to end, was just a huge mistake.
After we spent an insane amount on Nike soccer shoes and purchased all the required “soccer wear”, we showed up to the first practice and expected to have a soccer star.
She showed so much potential.
Boy were we wrong.
She wanted nothing to do with running around and kicking the ball. Absolutely nothing.
She refused to do anything but cry. Honestly, I had no idea how to handle it. I looked over at my son and his face showed exactly what I was thinking.
What the heck?
I guess we will just stick to golf ball pick up in the backyard.

We haven’t tried any sports yet, and Chan is almost 6. I wanted to try soccer this year, but it was during August/September, and we had a lot of family vacation in August. I still want to sign him up for some stuff in this upcoming year. Your poor daughter, soccer just wasn’t her thing. It’s fun to see pictures of her when she was younger. 🙂

Oh that poor little girl. I guess soccer was just not to be. LOL to your little dude’s expression!

I am glad I am not the only Mom who has been in that situation. We keep being told that we have to get our son into sports. The VERY FIRST sport we got him into was soccer. There were huge amount of running, plus he didn’t feel it was proper to take a ball away from another kid who was playing with it. The same thing happened in basketball. Volleyball is a great sport for him and so is baseball.

The facial expressions tell the whole story.

We signed up our twin boys last Spring for soccer, one of them was totally into it but the other one half way through games would just walk off the field and say he was done and ready to go home LOL. I just try and go with it, but the cost of playing sports is insane.

lol My three oldest all decided to play baseball this past spring and I spent hundreds of dollars signing them up and for equipment. After the first kid on their team got hit with the ball it was the beginning of the end. My two oldest never want to do it again and only my 8 year old wants to continue next year.

We have yet to try sports here yet, but we will have to soon. I adore the look on your son’s face!

Funny how kids have such a decided opinion on things at that age. LOL.
