Good Shoes for Rough Little Boys

I’m not sure what it is about my little six-year old son, but he goes through shoes faster than any of my other two children. I know he’s a rough little guy and plays super hard, so I’m guessing that might attribute to his constant need for new shoes. Between busted out soles, holes where his big toe sits and shoes that just can’t keep up with his active lifestyle, I was spending more on shoes for him, than I even care to admit.

We received a pair of Keen Alamosa all terrain shoes and my son has been wearing them for a few weeks now. Given the choice of the different pairs of shoes in his room, he always picks his new Keen shoes.

But not only are they his new favorite pair of shoes, they are now my favorite pair of shoes for him as well. In addition to the dark color, the thick non-marking soles, and the water resistant leather, the secure fit lace capture system had me as soon as I took the shoes from the box.

You can tell just by looking at these shoes that the attention to detail and the extraordinary craftsmanship is what makes these shoes last. I did notice that they were a bit heavier than his other shoes, but he doesn’t seem to notice at all. I’m guessing it might be from the quality materials used in making the shoes that add a little weight. The price tag is a bit more than I normally spend on my children’s shoes, but if I’m only having to purchase a couple of pairs a year, rather than a pair each month, by the end of the year, I’ll be ahead of the game.

I’m not sure why I had never heard of Keen Footwear until now, but I’ll definitely be shopping them in the future.
