Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time Movie Review

“Why, it’s like a dream.  A wonderful dream come true.” Cinderella may have uttered these words after being transformed for the ball, but for my little princess another wonderful dream has come true: Cinderella’s story continues in Cinderella II: Dreams Come True & Cinderella III: A Twist In Time. Both movies are available together in this special edition 2-movie collection, available for the first time on Blu-ray!

In Cinderella II: Dream Come True, we follow Cinderella as she adjusts to life in the palace. These three tales showcase the challenges she encounters while beginning her happily ever after. Throughout the movie, Cinderella works towards balancing her role of princess with her desire to remain true to herself.

• In “Aim to Please,” the first of the three tales,  you’ll see Cinderella rebel against the rule banning commoners from palace celebrations (understandably considering she was a commoner herself) and create new traditions.
• Jaq, one of the mice from the original film, also struggles to find himself when he wishes to be transformed into a human in “A Tall Tail”.
• A less desirable character from the original film, the horrible stepsister Anastasia, softens in “An Uncommon Romance.” Kind Cinderella aids Anastasia in making her romance with a lowly baker work, despite objections from Lady Termaine and Drizella.

Cinderella III: A Twist in Time begins as Cinderella and Prince Charming celebrate their first anniversary. Lady Termaine, still jealous of Cinderella’s happiness, stumbles upon the Fairy Godmother’s wand and uses it to change history. Viewers wonder if Cinderella and Charming will find their way back to each other, even after their memories of the magical night at the ball have been erased.

If you’re unfamiliar with Disney movie releases, movies are released from the “Disney Vault” periodically. Since they aren’t available at all times, I knew that I needed to snatch this one up quickly! Harper adores Cinderella, probably because she’s the Disney princess that Harper most closely resembles.  She was thrilled being able to spend more time with her idol. While I have a fondness for the original because it’s the story I grew up with, these straight to DVD films capture the magic of story and song and will hold a special place in the heart of my daughter.
