Get out your pitchforks. We are on the look-out for Frankenstein food. Genetically modified foods (or GMO’s) have been in the news a lot recently, and when you consider that we are consuming them every day, I can see why. I do my best to protect my family from harm, and, the truth is, I just don’t know what these foods can do to us long-term.
If yours is like my family, we don’t always meet our goals to live a “green” life. We pack snacks in the reusable sandwich bags my sister sewed. We recycle. We know the words to Joni Mitchell songs (totally ups our “green” credibility). But I do wish we had more organic and GMO-free foods in our kitchen. Green fork-N-spoon is a great fit for families like ours. Green fork-N-spoon is a subscription service that introduces organic and non-GMO foods to families. Monthly boxes are full of goodies, including snacks and meal items.
The box allows you to sample the best manufacturers have to offer. I have thrown away a lot of disappointing food items from my natural food supermarket. I refuse to buy another jar of organic peanut butter after being burned too many times. Let Green fork-N-spoon weed out all the losers, and score each month when your box arrives.
I received a box to share with my family. They were excited about the bars and snacks, and I was thrilled to know that I wasn’t filling them with unsafe food. Although you can’t sign up for specific allergen-free foods, I did notice a few of my products were free of gluten and peanuts. I adored the seeded coaster that came packed with my food items. It’s just one element proving Green fork-N-spoon stands behind promoting a greener lifestyle.
It’s probably not a shock to you, but organic and non-GMO foods can be more expensive. However if you value organic and non-genetically modified foods, then this service is a great way to be introduced to a variety of delicious products. Your favorites can be purchased at your local retailer or through the links on Green fork-N-spoon’s website.
With no need to hunt Frankenstein food in my kitchen, I’d have a lot more time to sing, “Hey farmer farmer, put away that DDT now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees. Please!” Who knows, maybe Joni Mitchell will join me for a cup of organic green tea someday.

I try to purchase as many non GMO brands as possible. I even have a list of the companies that use them on my phone to refer to while shopping! This snack box looks delicious and I recognize a few of our favorite brands.
Melanie says
I love the idea of having brands listed on my phone. I need to make one of those! Back in the pre-cell phone days, I used to carry a list of vegan foods and ingredients to look out for.

Interesting . Yes it is so disappointing when you spend your hard earned money on things that don’t exactly meet your taste buds

I like the idea of a snack box with items that you can try. That way you can decide if you like them enough to purchase again.
Robin Gagnon {Mom Foodie} says
Looks like a great way to see which healthy snacks the kids actually like before spending on a full box. Many are delicious, but some tend to be lackluster

Yum! I used to love me some Newman’s own product before I went Paleo.
Melanie says
Newman’s Own is a brand I know we’ll love. Never a disappointment there! I need to do more research on Paleo. Not sure it would work for my particular dietary restrictions.
Leilani says
Now this sounds like a subscription service I can actually use. Thanks for sharing!
