Special thanks to Publishers Clearing House for sponsoring today’s discussion.
I know better than to answer the front door in my bathrobe. Someday, yes someday, the Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol will be on the other side of my door, ready to hand over an over-sized check and make me a millionaire. I’ve already got my “surprised face” perfected.
What would I do with a million dollars? The list is so long!
- I’d start by hiring a crew to finish those projects on the “Honey Do” list. Hello, weekends. How I’ve missed you!
- Can you imagine how expensive Harvard is going to be in 15 years? I’d definitely add to my daughters’ college funds to make sure they were ready when the time came.
- I’d take my parents, siblings, and their families on vacation. There are 25 of us, no joke. With us spread on both coasts, it’s hard to get us all together as often as I’d like. Hawaii, Paris, Ibiza…the world would be ours.
- I’d make donations to my favorite charities and then encourage all my millionaire friends to do the same. There’d be luncheons to express gratitude for my generosity, and I’d have to buy super cute dresses and funny looking hats to wear to all of the events. Apparently when I’m a millionaire, I’m also going to be British royalty.
- Georgia has made me promise I’d also take her to a toy store so she can buy whatever toys she wants.
And this is just the beginning the list!
That’s why I want to win the $1 Million plus $5,000 Every Week For Life Mega Prize. Do you remember seeing the first Mega Prize winner, LeRoy Faulks, on the news? He became an instant millionaire, plus had $5,000 a week to maintain the once in a lifetime prize he had been awarded by Publishers Clearing House. $1 million dollars! Plus $5,000 a week…that’s $260,000 in the first year alone!
Since the Prize Patrol has yet to come knocking, I knew there must be something else I needed to do to be eligible for the Mega Prize. Enter daily to be the Mega Prize winner. The lucky winner (which should totally be me) will be announced June 30th on NBC.
What would you do with $1 Million? What would you do with $5,000 a week? Now dare to imagine what your life would be like with both prizes. That’s the Mega Prize!

Oh my gosh, I would TOTALLY love to win, I’d build a house from scratch and send my sons to the best schools!
Melanie says
That sounds awesome! I see so many great ideas online for my dream house, but they don’t always fit with the layout I’ve got. To build a house exactly how you want would be ahhhh-mazing!
Jen says
Oh goodness, my hubby and I talk about this sometimes. I would totally gut my house — bigger bedrooms, bigger bathrooms, bigger porch. Then I would take the fam on LOTS of trips, totally overhaul my closet (you are welcome Goodwill). And then I am so frugal, I’d save the rest. Oh, I’d buy hubby a car b/c that’s what he would want. But the rest, save 🙂
Melanie says
I’d donate everything to Goodwill! Hello, new wardrobe. I adore the addition of a bigger porch. You’ve got to have one big enough to sit with neighbors, drink lemonade, and play cards. That’s how I’d want to retire. 🙂
Tara says
Oh, that question…I would travel more with my family! I travel a ton, but the money would make it possible to bring them on all of my adventures. 🙂
Melanie says
Are there any dream destinations? I’ve traveled a little, but only to the most obvious of places (Hawaii, England, etc).
Kat says
OMG! I have all sorts of stuff I would do, paying off the house and cars and debt would be first though!
Melissa says
What an awesome prize – I can’t even imagine! We would move into a new house, get some new cars and start college funds for our kids.
mel says
I would love to be able to fully support my kids for their college education!
Kelly @ A Girl Worth Saving says
I would completely remodel my house – after I paid it off – and put a chunk away for my son. Love the photo!
Melanie says
Thanks. I’ll be honest, I felt a little silly. But a girl’s got to practice for when they come a’ knocking.
Vanessa: thequeenofswag says
I would pay off my student loans and move to a better home!
LyndaS says
How cute! I would not have a house payment if I won.
Jenn says
New house, new car, save the rest!
Tiff @ Babes and Kids says
Wow, there’s so much I would do with $1 million. I would buy a new home, and then save and invest the rest. You could live off the interest if you were wise with it!
Sheri says
My list is long, but it starts with being debt free!
Melanie says
A girl can dream, right?
Elaina- @atimeout4mommy says

Jennifer @ The Quirky Momma says
I would pay off all student loans, the mortgage, pay ahead on all utilities, add on to my home and remodel parts of it, put money away for retirement and probably buy a beach house.
Maryann says
I would sock it away
Ty @ Mama of 3 Munchkins says
I would use the money to send my kids to college and put some away so that they can have a better future, oh and maybe I’ll get a new car.
Leilani says
I would pay off my student loans, buy a house here in the SF Bay Area and put the rest away for my kids college fund.
Theresa says
I have no idea, but I’d love to win!
Stefanie says
Pay off bills, buy a condo and travel.
HilLesha @To the Motherhood says
I’d have a house built, spread the wealth amongst my family, pay off medical bills, and send my children to private schools.
Robin Gagnon {Mom Foodie} says
I would be out of the city so fast it would make your head spin.
Mellisa says
There are so many things I would do if I won a Million dollars. But I would definitely make sure that I helped others around me.
Melanie says
My mom and dad have always helped me out so much, I’d love to do something nice for them in return. It’s great to think of those around you and not spend it all on yourself. It’ll keep you grounded.
Jenn- The Rebel Chick says
Put money away for my daughter so she would be set should anything happen to me and then travel the world!
