Heading to Kissimmee soon? Check out these 3 fun ways to dine in Kissimmee.
Last month when I attended a four day press trip for Experience Kissimmee, I met some wonderful people, enjoyed gorgeous weather, went on some awesome excursions, shared lots of laughter, and ate a ton of delicious food. I wanted to share my three favorite dining experiences while in Kissimmee.
I attended a press event with Experience Kissimmee and most of my travel-related expenses were covered. All thoughts and experiences are my own.
1. If you are looking for a fun way to start your day in Kissimmee, you can’t go wrong with a character breakfast. For a limited time, Shrek Fest is open on weekends at the Gaylord Palms, where you get to eat like an Ogre!
The breakfast buffet is astounding! For those wanting a hearty stick-to-your-ribs kind of meal, there are a variety of tasty meats, egg dishes, biscuits and gravy, and potatoes. If you prefer a lighter start to your day there is an amazing fruit selection, complete with a yogurt parfait station and all the toppings. To top off your selections is a wide array of breads, cereals, pastries, and other delicious treats. Wash everything down with a tall cool glass of swamp juice! If you still have room after all of that, don’t forget the green Shrek chocolate fountain for dessert! If you leave here hungry, it’s your own fault!
In addition to being one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever eaten, Shrek Fest is simply just a ton of fun! I was there with the Decade of Kissimmee Memories finalists, and they all had a blast meeting Shrek, Princess Fiona, and of course the adorable Puss n’ Boots. The Driver Family really got into the fun! I also really enjoyed walking around the beautiful atrium inside the Gaylord Palms, it’s breathtaking!
2. Kissimmee is also well known for fabulous dinner shows. We went to Arabian Nights and saw The American Princess. With purchase of the VIP package you can even tour the stables before the show and meet the horses up close! That was a highlight for many in our group!
I’ve attended dinner shows before, and what I liked about Arabian Nights was the fact that you were able to choose your entrée. I picked Chicken Alfredo and it was really good, with chocolate mousse cake for desert (my camera battery died before my cake was served, so you’ll just have to take my word for it, it was yummy!). Other entrée choices included pulled pork, pot roast, and chicken tenders.
While eating your meal you are treated to a wonderful show full of exotic costumes, fantasy and pageantry. The horses and riders are stunning, the music is invigorating, and by the end you will be cheering! It’s an event the whole family will love!
3. Last, but certainly not least, Charley’s Steak House is a treat for steak lovers! Don’t let the name fool you. Renowned for its prime aged beef and chef-driven menu, Charley’s Steak House offers culinary delights that you won’t find at the average steak house!
Charley’s created a special menu for our kick-off dinner, and we had the choice of Kansas City Strip, Oak Grilled Salmon, 2” Pork Chops, or Flame Broiled Chicken Breast for our entrée. I chose the steak, and was amazed when a whopping 22 oz. steak was set before me. There was barely any room for the garlic mashed potatoes (served family style). I ordered my steak well done, and it was absolutely perfect!
The appetizer was a beautifully prepared pan-fried calamari with peppers, which I tried, but honestly I’m just not much of a seafood fan. The signature house salad and garlic cheese bread were quite good though. And I loved the mouth-watering array of desserts we were treated to, especially the key lime pie and the chocolate mousse ball!
Thanks again to Experience Kissimmee for providing us with fun, unique, and delectable dining experiences!
