During our recent trip to Dallas, we had the opportunity to visit several gems and one of those was the Dallas Arboretum. With accolades from Southern Living, MSNBC and Frommer’s, you can rest assured that this is one place you want to visit while you are in the area.
A special thank you to the Dallas Arboretum, Restaurant DeGolyer and the Dallas CVB for this complimentary experience.
We spent the entire morning and part of the afternoon touring the 66-acre gardens of the Dallas Arboretum. As we were walking along as a family, taking in everything around us, it occurred to me that everything around us was appealing to four of our five senses. The sights of the flowers, the sounds of nature around us, the scents coming from the trees, flowers and plants, we could touch and feel exotic flowers such as the Rabbit Ears. It was stimulating even to the smallest member of our family. I can say that the Dallas Arboretum gave us more than I had expected. {If you are wanting to stimulate that other sense — taste — check out Restaurant DeGolyer.}
This is going to be a photo rich post because I can’t possibly put in to words just how stunningly beautiful the Dallas Arboretum truly is. I hope you enjoy looking at the photos just as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Are you tired of flowers yet? I sure hope not because I took so many pictures of so many beautiful flowers that I just have to share some more of them with you!
I could go on and on because I got so many awesome shots of all the beautiful flowers at the Dallas Arboretum. But I have to show you something else. My children loved it! They looked at the flowers. They smelled the flowers. They touched the flowers. They had just as much fun as their father and I did.
There is an area of the Dallas Arboretum dedicated solely to children and learning about what life was like for the early settlers.
We truly had a wonderful time exploring the Dallas Arboretum. I now understand why more than 700,000 people from 50 countries visited last year alone!
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, I highly recommend dining at the on-site restaurant, Restaurant DeGolyer.
Restaurant DeGolyer is an upscale dining establishment nestled in the center of the Arboretum property that offers a menu selection created by James Sparks, the Executive Chef of Gil’s Catering. They offer a variety of hot and cold options and we found the selection suitable for our taste buds.
You can watch this little video we did after our experience at the restaurant. As always, it’s raw and unedited, just like us!
After you enjoy your meal, you can’t pass up dessert y’all. You must get the chocolate cake! Layers and layers of chocolate and it was decadently delicious!
Our experience at the Dallas Arboretum and the photos we captured will be memories I hold with me forever. I learned that my children remember the small things, more than they remember the big things.
What is your favorite thing to do with your family?
