When I was growing up, the closest I came to driving a vehicle before the age of 16 was those little ride-on, coin-operated machines outside of grocery stores. These days, kids are driving before losing their first tooth with cool age-appropriate get-ups like the Fisher-Price Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kawasaki KFX Power Wheels!

I’m going to brag here a little bit, because I think it’s totally brag-worthy, so be patient with me for just a second here. I put this together — all by myself, mostly. I had the kids there to retrieve parts and offer words of encouragement, but I’m super stoked I did it all without any help from my husband. I usually just let him do the hard stuff, but since he was at work, and my son couldn’t contain his excitement anymore, I bit the bullet and went for it.
Assembly took me about two hours, but I don’t think that is normal. I had some issues with my black lab stealing pieces, so some of that time was spent playing hide-and-seek. I also really read the instructions. Shock. I know. But since my little guy was going to be riding on it, I wanted to make sure I put it together as instructed. I won’t say assembly was easy, especially trying to get the rear axle through the very small hole on the other side, but I did it y’all. I did it.
Just a word of advice: the battery needs to be charged before riding, and it takes at least 18 hours to charge. Don’t make your kid suffer like mine did. I felt so sorry for the little guy. Waiting is hard when you’re that young.
Fun features of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Kawasaki KFX:
Monster Traction: We live in a neighborhood on a cul-de-sac lot where there isn’t really a lot of room to ride on the grass. With Monster Traction, it’s easy to ride on hard surfaces, grass and rough terrain. Because it can be driven on multiple surfaces, my son can ride in a larger area providing him with more fun than what the front yard alone could provide.
Two Speed Options: There is a 3 MPH option and a 6 MPH option. If you have a young or inexperienced rider, during assembly you will have the option of either connecting the high speed connector, or leaving it loose and not connected. If you choose not to connect the high speed connector, it has a max speed of 3 MPH. If you have an older child or an experienced rider, by connecting the high speed connector during assembly, your child will have the option of going 3 MPH or 6 MPH. The twist grip throttle on the handlebar will throw it in to turbo (6 MPH) for hi-speed fun. At any time, simple by removing the seat, you can connect or disconnect the high speed connector.
Chrome Accents: The flashy “chrome” wheels, along with the “chrome” accents throughout, are a nice touch and gives the illusion that the Kawasaki KFX is more than “just a toy,” especially when you’re 6 years old.
It’s TMNT: My husband grew up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and now our boys are growing up with them, too! I just think it’s fun to watch my husband channel his inner child as he watches our boys enjoy the Turtles like he did. With the green body, purple accents, fun TMNT graphics, and realistic off-road styling of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kawasaki KFX, imaginations will run wild and adventures will ensue.
We’ve had the Fisher-Price Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kawasaki KFX for about a month now, and the new still hasn’t worn off yet. My son asks to ride it, every. single. day. Rain or shine, he wants to ride is “4-wheeler.” The battery life is pretty impressive, and it gives him about 35-40 minutes of ride time. The battery needs to be charged at least 14 hours in between uses, and never charged for over 30 hours.
In the month we’ve had it, the only issue I have is that the silver on the handlebars is not shiny anymore, and has turned more like a matte silver now. It’s not a huge deal for me, since I know it can’t stay new forever, but since I liked the “flashy” look of the “chrome” on the handlebars, I would have liked for it to stay around a little bit longer.
Overall, the Fisher-Price Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kawasaki KFX has been a hit around here. It has provided fun and entertainment for my little guy, and he has thoroughly enjoyed having it around.

My son would die for one of these. How large is it? The only reason my husband won’t let me get one for Jonah is because he is afraid we wouldn’t have room to store it.

This is something my son would have enjoyed when he was younger. 🙂

Love it! Question for you…when connecting the high speed connector ours only plugs about half way together, is that normal? Or is yours the same way?
Crystal says
Yep, mine is like that too. I kept thinking I wasn’t pushing hard enough but after several attempts and raw fingers, it would have to do LOL!
