Product provided for review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Technology never ceases to amaze me. Things are ever-changing and technology is constantly evolving to provide an easier way of life.
I remember when the first tablet came out. We didn’t buy one right away, but we eventually did. And we’ve continued to buy them because as technology changes, so do the tablets. We like trying new things and having all the latest gadgets. Plus with three children, having plenty of tablets is never a bad thing in my book.
Dell Venue 7
The newest tablet we’ve added to our arsenal is the Dell Venue 7. It is the smallest tablet we own and measures in at just over 7.5 inches long, 4.5 inches wide and under a half inch thick. We’ve had the Dell Venue 7 for about a month and my kids have enjoyed using it for gaming. We’ve also used it in the homeschool room to browse the internet.
When it comes to the technical mumbo-jumbo of specifications and all the jazz, I honestly have no clue what any of it means. But I’ve used enough tablets to know a good one from a bad one. In this Dell Venue 7 review, I’ll share my thoughts on this little tablet that packs quite a punch.
Design
The Dell Venue 7 is a smaller tablet. It features a Mini-USB port on the left edge right above the volume rocker, headphone jack on the top left, power button on the top right, and a microSD slot on the right edge. The speaker sits on the bottom edge. The bezel is thick, which makes the tablet looks cheap.
Features
The Dell Venue 7 is an Android-powered device that is pre-loaded with some software. Chances are you won’t need it all — and it’s easy to unistall what you don’t want or need. There is a large selection of apps, both paid and free, available for download.
Display
The Dell Venue 7 features a 7-inch multi-touch display with a 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution. Video and images look sharp and crisp on the display.
Camera
If you use your tablet to take selfies, the 1-megapixel front camera leaves a lot to be desired — unless fuzzy photos are your thing. However, the 3-megapixel rear camera offers a little more quality with options to change lighting, size, etc. Without the option to focus on a particular subject though, it’s hard to get in-focus shots.
Speed
Besides the long startup time, the tablet speeds through while doing normal activities. I was easily able to run multiple gaming apps without noticing sluggishness. I did notice however that when I would download or update many apps at one time that the speed was greatly impacted. But for normal, everyday activities, it’s a workhorse.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m pretty thrilled with the Dell Venue 7, especially considering the price tag (under $200). It’s easy to carry around and fits nicely into my purse.
It doesn’t look like the Dell Venue 7 is available for purchase from the Dell store at this time, but you can find them on Amazon.

From the description it sounds like it would be a better purchase for someone who isn’t a “power user”. In other words someone who would like to be able to read a book, stream a video and check their email on the same device…but not at the same time.
