The other day I posted about changing the look of your bedroom just by changing your bedding. I’m in the mood for a change so I’ve really been looking at all of my options and I ran across Chris Madden comforters. I had no idea that Chris Madden had a line of comforters. I thought he only designed shoes! After doing a little research, it is Steve Madden who designs shoes.
As I was searching I came across this gorgeous Chris Madden comforter that is so elegant and sophisticated. But it really made me think. Do people like me actually purchase comforter sets like this. I mean, I have three children who love to sneak in my bed. Sometimes they are dirty from playing outside, sometimes they play hide-n-seek under my covers, etc. I can totally see this gorgeous piece of work looking dingy, colored-on and not so gorgeous with just a few minutes alone with my three children. While I think the Chris Madden comforter is absolutely stunning it will be years before I’ll buy something as nice as this.
So my question to you is, would you purchase a comforter set like this?

I have a nice one, but it’s green. There is no way I’d get a white comforter or sheets! We have a dog who has decided our bed is hers as well. We have a 6 yr old who plays video games in our bed. Hubby sometimes just crashes in bed after work (electrician…it can get dirty). I love the beautiful bedding, but I will not spend as much next time!

LOL that wouldn’t be white very long in this house. Hubby is a HUGE sweater so yeah it would be gross and have to be washed more than 1x a day lol! It is really cute though I don’t think practical for those with little kids lol.

I would say white would be ok for a house without children, but in general white is a tough color for bedding, but the most generic color out there… I mean white goes with 99% of any color palette.
It is a beautiful set though. Looks amazing!

That’s really pretty! I wonder that too.. who actually buys ALL of the pieces? I don’t need that many pillows! No one is going to see my bedroom, it’s upstairs! And with kids! Forget about it! That would show dirt so bad, I would go crazy trying to keep it clean! LOL

My husband is not for anything really nice. I would love them though. They look like cuddly goodness

It’s funny because my hubby bought me something sorta like this for Christmas this year (2009). 🙂 It’s beautiful! I’d never buy it for myself (cause I’m too cheap), but what a lovely surprise!

It is really pretty but there is no way I would buy it. White is not allowed in our house. My girls are just way too messy still. lol

Well, I HAD a lovely white comforter and then I had a baby and then another one. Bye, bye pretty white conformer! I now have a hand me down from my sister, she has no kids so she buys a new comforter every 2-3 years. I will say that comforter you show is really beautiful, I saw it at the store recently.

If it came with the maid I would need to keep it clean and some magic white restorer solution than I would love to buy something like that for me! lol
It sure is pretty though. Sigh……

In my house, we wouldn’t buy it. The color is way too light and it’s too expensive. Our comforter is dark and not too pricey, so if our daughter does something to it, we won’t be out too much.

I would only purchase this if I had no kids in the house and lived in a mansion! LOL
It’s too fancy for me, I would be too afraid to sleep underneath it! ROFL

just like you said the same issue will happen when you have grandchildren too so no I would not as beautiful as it is and boy it is an’t it? I guess some people buy white crisp things like that and make sure they stay that way by being more particular than most with kids but your home should be a place you & your family even your grand kids can be in an not feel like they are on boundries to to totally touch things and with items like that they would be, it would be unavoidable not too. Maybe on single people or couples with no kids coming into the house would buy it. Sure is nice though.

Its pretty though

I love it, but it sure wouldn’t stay white, with kids and grandkids hopping on the bed.
Lauralee Hensley says
I wouldn’t get one in light tones or color hues. With kids and pets, yikes, it just wouldn’t look pretty for very long.
I wouldn’t hesitate to get one in darker colors or tones, like a hunter green or brown/rust tones.

Nope, nope, I would not even consider a comforter like that at this time! With 4 grandchildren[all under the age of 9] and a dog that sheds black hair, not at all practical. Like U maybe a beautiful elegant set like this would be possible in the distant, distant future

My babies are all grown up and my puppy is really tiny, but there is NO way I’d get a white bedding set. It is gorgeous, I’ll give you that, but both The Hubs and I are too messy to have white!!
We are getting a new set, but it is maroon, beige, and brown.

I love how everyone says no, but yet it still seems like theres a demand for them. Obviously who ever’s buying them are single and petless!
Jenn says
Not so much… I don’t have kids but I have 4 indoor cats. Not to mention that my boyfriend and I NEVER make the bed except right after laundry. So it would only look pretty one day a week.

It is beautiful! But I would not feel comfortable spending good money on something so beautiful when I just know it will get dingy in no time.
