For the last few weeks I’ve been using Crest Pro-Health Complete Rinse during my morning and evening routines and while I can’t say I’ve noticed a huge difference or anything, I can say that I like it and it burns my mouth far less than other kinds I have tried. For the first 30 seconds or so that the rinse is in my mouth, it doesn’t burn at all. But once I pass that 30 second mark, it does start to burn a little. I’m not sure if it’s just me or it’s the rinse.
Crest Pro-Health Complete is to be used in conjunction with regular teeth brushing and contains fluoride to help prevent cavities, strengthens the enamel on your teeth, cleans your mouth and freshens and fights against bad breath! The new Crest Pro-Health Complete Rinse is a more complete way to get better dental checkups because you get so much out of just one rinse.
I’m not sure if my mouth is smaller than normal, but trying to gargle and swish with a whole cap full of rinse was quite amusing for anyone watching. Each time I would swish, a little bit of rinse would shoot out because I had so much in my mouth. I cut it down to about half a cap full, and it’s much better, although not quite as amusing. Another thing I thought I should mention is although the bottle says to wait 30 minutes before eating and drinking, I noticed that even after waiting an hour or longer my food and drink didn’t taste the same. I think the rinse really penetrates the tongue and the taste buds get all out of whack, or at least that’s my theory. Once you get the first couple of bites down, that weirdness goes away though.
I like the way my teeth feel smooth and squeaky clean and that I can use just one rinse and take care of everything.

I agree about the size of the mouthful so I think your mouth is fine:) Otherwise – great review and this is a GREAT product!

I always have used Listerine and I can’t stand the burn so I switched to Listerine Total care and I too haven’t noticed a difference. Great review and I guess I will stay with my Listerine.

I won’t be buying it either, but I did like it. I only used it at night instead of twice a day, and I always used only half a cap full

I love Crest Prohealth toothpaste. I have never tried the rinse, but now I think I might have to!

I’m with Kathleen, I love the ProHealth toothpaste and I have a hard time with most mouthwashes because of the burn. I may try this because of your review. Thanks for your honesty – as always.

After using it once, my tongue was numb most of the day and everything I’ve eaten for breakfast and lunch has tasted terrible. After my experience I googled and found others that had taste effected for up to two weeks after using a whole bottle before stopping. I’ve also seen tons of reports of teeth staining being caused by this product.

I agree with Jen. I used the product once or twice before and had the lost of taste occur so I decided to try it for a weekend. FIgured maybe with longer use it would be better. Nope it was worse. I am not sure how long it will take to get my taste back but my tongue is essentially burned (I have a sensitive tongue to begin with). Went to the dentist for routine checkup and told her about the effects and she mentioned that reports said 1 in 10 using some of the new mouthwashes reported they either had “burned” tongues or skin peeling off. Time to go back to Listerine. I would advise against using the product after trying it once if you lose your taste for more then a day.

Just as a by the way, it tastes funny after you use the rinse because of the chemical reactions between the rinse and what you eat/drink. It has nothing to do with the rinse penetrating your tongue. Also, the wait 30 min is so the flouride has a chance to set up. Eating or drinking will remove it before it has a chance to work. The wait period isn’t so your food goes back to tasting normal.

don’t use an entire cap-full! 2 teaspoons only — just 10 mL 🙂
