I still remember the day my daughter came home from kindergarten and showed me she could read. Yes, we had been working with her at home, but her teacher and the time she spent at school started her love for reading and learning. It makes me sad to hear about all the budget cuts that schools around the nation are having to deal with but excited to tell you about Bing’s latest philanthropic campaign supporting education!
Bing’s “Our School Needs” Contest
The contest is currently in the submission phase which will end on October 22nd. There will be 3 categories: grades k‐6, 7 – 9 and 10 – 12 and the prizes are HUGE! The overall grand prize winning school will receive $100,000 and each category will have a first prize of $50,000. Teachers and students are encouraged to submit an entry for their school including a story of what their school needs, photos and an optional video. Entries are then made available to users to rate and the top 5 rated submissions will then be voted on my a panel of judges.
There are only a few days left to enter so get your submissions in quick!

Wow! Thank-you so much for this information. I am definitely going to have to let my boy’s teachers know about this and maybe make some nominations myself!

Ugh, I totally agree about the way the education system is going. It’s REALLY bad in my state. Like ridiculously. >.O I’m glad these companies are helping to right things as much as they can. 🙂

I agree with you 100% but as a single parent alot of the learning starts at home and spreads abroad. Some parents make up excuses for their children being slack. But as the cliche goes it takes an entire village to raisea whole army. With thatbeing said we all should just help children with simple things like reading or math in our spare time.

Thanks for posting this – I remember getting an email from Bing but I didn’t pay attention. I certainly will now 🙂
