Right now I’m experiencing a love/hate relationship with Photobucket. I’ve been using the free service for the two years I’ve been blogging to share files, like all my photos and videos.
Lately I’ve had a huge increase in traffic and today I received an email letting me know that I was reaching my monthly bandwidth limit of 10 GB. Huge traffic is always a FANTASTIC thing and I’m definitely not complaining, but I’m not sure I want to shell out the money to upgrade to Photobucket Pro.
Photobucket keeps me from having to send large files of pictures to family and friends. I can share my albums and they can view the pictures from there. It makes is easier for me and easier for them. I also have my sidebar graphics hosted at Photobucket, but I just realized that I can host them here in the backend of the blog. So, other than for personal use, which I think the free 10 GB will be more than enough for, I don’t see a need to upgrade to the Pro version.
Is there something I need to know about Photobucket Pro that would make it worth the cost?

Wow. I had no idea there was a pro version! LOL I am starting to use PhotoBucket a lot more these days though cause I upload way too many files to my server.

I don’t really know much about Photobucket, except for the fact that it is blocked at work so I can never see photos on blogs that use that service. 🙁 I know a lot of other people that have this same issue. Check out Picasa. I love it! We aren’t even close to our limit, and even if we go over, their prices are very low to upgrade to larger storage. (Sorry I really didn’t help you with your question. Just giving you a different option, maybe.)

I upload to my hosting account and that’s been good enough for me up to this point…I don’t think I’d have any use for a pro acct but I’m sure it might be great for someone else.

I use the paid Flickr so that I don’t have to worry about that kind of thing either. I can’t remember why I chose Flickr over PB though.

I host all my own stuff on my servers – I have plenty of space on both blogs – for photo storage and sharing files I use Dropbox.com – works great I can access it from anywhere, and only make certain files public – you get a 2GB account free and then when you refer friends to sign up you get 250mb – you can have up to 8GB free altogether. That’s where I store my blog back ups too.

I used Photobucket on blogger, but now upload everything to WordPress account. Much easier

I was getting that message a lot last year and had to upgrade. The deciding factor was when all my photo dissappeared.

I haven’t paid for any yet…I think I’d prefer to delete old or less used photos than pay. I have too many bills as it is.

I’ve wondered if Pro is worth the money as well. I’m kind of clueless on this subject, but you’ve gotten some good feedback. I also think I might do what Penelope said and just delete some of my older photos if I start getting a warning. Everything that I have to pay monthly seems to add up, and this would just be one more thing.

Great question! I was wondering the same thing. I just started my blog less than a month ago, and I already have 3% full account at photobucket. At this rate, it wont be too long before I have to upgrade of find something else to do with my pictures.

I haven’t paid for anything yet. I use Picasa for all of my personal photos but for blogging stuff I just upload it directly from my desktop and don’t host the pics anywhere. Now I’m wondering if this is something I should look into. If/when I finally switch over to WordPress I know I’m going to have issue because I don’t host my photos elsewhere.
