Michael Jackson was one of the most influential music artists of all time. Countless countries screamed his name and sang along to over dozens of albums and went to hundreds of concerts. He continued to reinvent himself through the decades to be relative to new listeners and the old listeners who would follow his career no matter what. There was just something special about Michael Jackson and the way he attracted all of us with his eclectic voice, memorable lyrics, and his mesmerizing dances.
I grew up idolizing Michael Jackson and walked around our house snapping my fingers and going “hee-hee” every time I heard a fly beat. I think I might have drove my parents and grand-parents crazy through the years for always using the right hand of most of their winter and garden gloves to try and look just like “the gloved one”.
As I got older I had to grow into my own and had to stop having a Jheri curl and also had to stop doing that strange “kick my leg up and shake it” move. I soon found out that Ubisoft was going to be coming out with a game featuring Michael and all of his music, all of his moves, but making it my experience. The family and I finally got our gloved hand on a copy of Michael Jackson The Experience for Kinect.
Pros:
I first started up the game and was delighted at the graphics and the way the Kinect captured your exact look. The song selections were, of course, some of the best ever recorded. The layout of the game and instructions on how to get started were very simplistic yet very informative. The game also had several different difficulty setting to accomadate the noob or the seasoned veteran.
Cons:
It’s kind of a frustrating game. I put it for the kids and after 3.6 seconds my daughter was in tears due to aggravation and feeling not up to par. I tried it with my parents over one day and that was the last time I played it. I was so frustrated and embarrassed that I had to do pelvic thrusts while the folks were just staring on in awe.
Bottom line:
If you like dancing games or games that get you up and moving this is for you. This game is not for me but I know of some people who haven’t stopped playing since they first got it.
Buy:
You can purchase Michael Jackson The Experience for Kinect for the suggested retail price of $49.99!

Thanks for such an honest review – I don’t think it’d be for us either.

ROTFL about the pelvic thrusts in front of your parents. I think I would feel the exact same way. Love the kinect games, it makes me wish that we had one.
