I’ll be completely honest with you and say that I haven’t always been the best mother and I’ve allowed my children to eat unhealthy at times. {I know, I know…shame on me.} I’ve found that when eating out, it’s more difficult because there aren’t many healthy options on the children’s menu.
We recently went to Joe’s Crab Shack this past weekend for lunch and I was excited to see some healthy items on the menu for the kiddos.
As you can see from the picture of the menu, there are quite a few options available. While french fries are a family favorite (don’t judge), I was excited that my children were interested in trying some of the healthier options like the Shrimply Grilled Shrimp with rice and apple sauce.
Or if you have an adventurous eater like I do, the Kid’s Steampot is a great option!
I really like how everything is clearly marked on the menu. Beside each entree, it’s clearly marked so that you can ensure your children are eating a balanced meal. There is one gluten free entree item but all the side items are gluten free. Plus, the Snow Crab, Shrimply Grilled Shrimp and a couple of side dishes have been recognized by the registered dieticians at HealthyDiningfinder.com as Kids LiveWell choices. Joe’s has redone the kids’ menu with an emphasis on balance between lean protein, vegetables, grains, fruits and low-fat dairy and the availability of gluten-free options.
So, if you don’t feel like cooking tonight and have had your fair share of rotisserie chicken and pizza, head on over to Joe’s to check out their healthy menu options!

It is really hard when you eat out to resist the temptations of all that naughty food. Mostly because we don’t usually have that stuff at home and it always looks and smells so good. But, a lot of places do have healthy choices and that is a good thing today. Those pics look great!
