Did you know that October is Women’s Small Business month?  It’s a month all about women!

When my children were born, my husband and I decided that I would stay home and raise our children rather than work outside of the home.  It was a sacrifice, but one I had to make.  During my years as a stay at home mom, I’ve started several small business from direct selling (Mary Kay), to an online boutique and finally this blog.  These opportunities provided me with an outlet and provided my family with a few extra dollars.

Dove Chocolate Discoveries was launched in February of 2007 and there are now Chocolatiers in 48 states.  With American’s spending $16 billion on chocolate last year alone, I don’t think there is a better time to start your own chocolate business. Being a Chocolatier you have the freedom of working for yourself, flexibility of setting your own work hours, a source of income, and a great way to have fun with friends and family.

Your job as a Chocolatier is to sample chocolates, encourage purchases, invite people to a Chocolate Tasting party and encourage others to become Chocolatiers.

    I think being a chocolatier would be an amazing way to combine my families love of chocolate with our friends! We’ve done a lot of fun things with chocolate and have even tried some foreign reciepes that use chocolate in ways we would never think of here, such as a dip for prawns!

    I think it would be a great way to make interesting, fun gifts for family and friends and hopefully become creative and do well enough to make it a small business for a few extra bucks (who can’t use that these days)

    What I fin most interesting about being a Chocolatier is all the support you receive after deciding to do it. I also know no matter what the economy is like chocolate endures- it is always a small treat we can give ourselves which means steady business!

    i would love to be a chocolatier. i am not a big chocolate fan, but my family is, so i’d have to swipe some for them 🙂 and since i don’t like chocolate a ton, i would keep my weight down lol

    The most interesting thing about becoming a Chocolatier would be finding a way for me to really love dark chocolate. I love millk chocolate, and my daughter loves dark, but I just can’t stomach it. Maybe I could find a way to use it and get the benefits and really enjoy eating it.

    I find it interesting that Dove, which is already a trusted name, is moving into this type of market. I love hosting parties (like Pampered Chef and Party Lite) and would love to host a Dove chocolate party.

    I am not much on the party hosting system of merchandising, but I do believe that chocolate would be a fun one to work with. Since I am a lousy salesperson, don’t think that becoming the marketer myself would be a good thing, but the party might be fun–learning some new things about and ways to work with chocolate.

    What I find most interesting about being a chocolatier, is that, I live in a very small town, So, this would be something very different in our town. I would love to be the first in my town to host a party that I know people would enjoy.
