When getting ready for baby, a good stroller and car seat are definitely on the list of “must buy” items. Strollers and car seats are continually getting better and better with time and the Eddie Bauer Trail Hiker 3-Wheel Travel System does not disappoint!

Upon pulling everything out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how easy it was to put everything together. The stroller comes mostly assembled and all you have to do is snap the wheels on, which was very easy! If you’re like me, you don’t want to have to wait for your husband to get home so he can put your new toy together. Luckily I had it put together in less than five minutes!

The Stroller

One thing I’m not used to is the amount of wheels. All of the strollers I’ve had in the past have had 4 wheels, so I was very impressed with the increased maneuverability you have with just the one wheel at the front. The front wheel can also be switched from fixed to non-fixed with just the push of a button. The ability to lock the wheel in place is helpful in different terrains.

The stroller also comes equipped with an adjustable handle as well as a parent tray, which includes two cup holders and a covered storage compartment. I especially loved the small hole in the storage compartment lid that allows your headphones to be in your ears, while still connected to your music device in the closed compartment.

The stroller can easily be folded up and was surprisingly light when lifted in to the back of my car.

My most interesting find in the stroller was the ability to recline the seat for baby. The back of the seat has a d-ring you pull with one hand to tighten and lift the seat. When you want to lower the seat, you can easily squeeze the clip to loosen the strap and allow the seat to lay down. It allows you more flexibility in how you would like the seat to recline.

The Car Seat

The first thing my husband commented on as we assembled the travel system was how light the car seat was. As baby grows and you’re continually lugging the car seat from the car to the stroller or the car to the house, the weight of the car seat is crucial! It’s a workout for your arm no matter how much it weighs, but it definitely helps knowing the seat, itself, is light.

The car seat easily snaps in to the stroller, rear facing, with the sound of two clicks.

The material used also makes it easy to wipe off anything your little one might get on it.

Complaints

Overall, I really do love this travel system for several reasons. However, I do have two things I wish were a little different. I think the storage basket underneath should be just a bit bigger since every mommy of a little one leaves the house with just about everything but the kitchen sink! Am I right, or am I right?

Also, this may seem silly, but I wish there were more options for colors. We’re happy with the red, but with blue and grey as the other two options, it’s really the closest thing to a girly color available.

Since my first child was born in 2009, I’ve found the travel system to be one of the most important baby gear investments we’ve made. It’s so important to have a good stroller and car seat! Wouldn’t you agree?

    I found the carseat is a Rear-facing: 4-35 pounds and up to 32″ model, and that it has a leveler that is easy to read. (wow, I just love that part, especially after our little grandson almost suffocated himself with the cheaper car seat model he had, when his head was lagging too far forward and was so tiny as a premature lil’ guy to have the strength to hold it up.. His mommy had to give him full life saving support to revive him and it was awful.:( ) SO important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Whoops. I forgot to add what I leaned. I learned that the car seat can be us for babies up to 35 lbs. that is a lot bigger than most infant seats that come with strollers.

    I also learned that this stroller can accommodate a child up to 50 pounds and it has a 2-section adjustable canopy.

    I LOVE that the the carseat holds a 4 lb baby and yet goes to hold a larger baby! my kids were never that small but its great to have an option when you have a smaller baby that is more affordable! Also love it goes bigger and you can use it longer and get your money out of it too!

    I learned that the stroller allows you to do a has a one hand fold and stand, making it easier to get the stroller in and out of the car.

    I learned that it is one of the most agile strollers on the market as well as the safety and light weightlessness as along with the easy set up make this product perfect for me and my soon to be little man! Also since i went with the RED in my registry if i have a girl in the future its decently unisex. I would LOVE LOVE to win this Eddie Bauer Trail Hiker 3 Wheel Travel System.

    I learned that it has a Parent Assist tray with two cup holders and covered storage and a tray and cup holder for your child also. It also has a 5 point harness for extra added safety.
