Relaxation and Pampering at Spa Avania

Do you ever have days where you wish you could just not think about anything at all for five seconds? Just five short seconds. Sometimes I feel like my head is going to explode because of all the things constantly on my mind. Husband. Children. Deadlines. Emails. Clients. Laundry. Bills…

Some days it takes all I have not to get in the fetal position and just cry. Seriously. Then I remember my family needs me. My business needs me and sitting in the corner and crying isn’t going to do anyone any bit of good, especially not me.

I know people say that moms need to take time for themselves. That we have to decompress so that we can be better for our family. But I have a terribly hard time doing it. I feel that time away for myself is incredibly selfish and I’ll be able to have “me” time once my children are grown and out of the house.

But while I was in Arizona on business a couple of weeks ago, I got to have a little “me” time at Spa Avania.

Spa Avania is located at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch. The spa offers a luxurious variety of rejuvenating spa treatments that include Thai massage, body wraps, exfoliation, aromatherapy, facials, and beauty treatments. While I was there, I was treated to a Diamond Pedicure and Manicure.

The Diamond Pedicure was something that was new to me. I’ve had pedicures in the past, but the Diamond Pedicure was not only a relaxing experience, but revitalizing as well.

The Diamond Pedicure uses a diamond-dust mud polish that purifies and illuminates the skin. Paired with a revitalizing massage, your tired muscles will feel re-energized. If you have sensitive skin, you may want to talk to the spa staff and express your concern. The diamond-dust was a little rough during the massage, but afterwards my legs felt great.

My manicure began with a hand soak and was followed with a five minute hand massage. My nails were then shaped and polished. Instead of doing a traditional french manicure, I wanted something that showed a little more pizzazz since I was going to be heading to LA. I think the gold tips turned out really cute.

The spa facilities are absolutely stunning. They use a unique holistic approach that bases your total-immersion experience on the needs of your body at different periods throughout the day. Between personalized treatment offerings, mineral water therapy and uniquely synchronized music styling, you will feel like you’ve escaped to your own personal oasis.

The spa features 19 treatment rooms including three rooms to accommodate couples. There are also five Garden treatment rooms that have their own private entrance. The spa also features a French-Celtic mineral pool, gentlemen’s suite, state-of-the-art fitness facility, men’s and women’s relaxation and locker areas, eucalyptus steam room, sauna and full-service salon.

I had such a relaxing time at Spa Avania. If it wasn’t all the way in Arizona, I could see it becoming a hard to resist temptation for a little pampering.
