My children are heading back to school tomorrow and while I’m super excited for them, I’m also super scared for them.  There are a lot of firsts this year: my baby will be walking through the doors of his elementary school for the first time as a Kindergartener, my middle child will be walking through the doors of his elementary school as a second grader and my oldest will be walking through the doors of her middle school for the very first time as a fifth grader.

Someone better hold me because this could get really ugly.  I’m already feeling the big crocodile tears welling up in my eyes.  Y’all, please tell me it’s this difficult for everyone.  The mama bear in me just wants to keep them cuddled up around me so that I can protect them every single second of every day.

As I’m preparing to send my children off to school for eight hours a day, I’m trying to make it easier on them at home by keeping all their things organized and my sending little “thinking of you” notes in their backpacks!  I recently received a complimentary Canon PIXMA MG6320 Printer that helps make that task simpler.

name tags canon pixma comixTo make these cute little name tags, I used the Canon PIXMA Comix app.  This app is free to use and when you print one of your creations, you will receive a coupon code for a percentage off your next Canon order.

To create the name tags, I used the three comic strip layout.  I uploaded three pictures of my children, added text to the pictures and then printed using the Canon PIXMA MG6320 printer.  I let the ink dry for about 24 hours, laminated the photos, cut out the squares and placed velcro squares on the back of each picture and on the wall of the garage.

name tags using canon comix appThe children keep their backpacks in the garage so that they have to walk past them to get into the vehicle for school each morning.  Plus, it helps keep the inside of the house a little less cluttered.  They each have their own hook for backpacks, jackets, etc.  To make it easier on our little Kindergartener, I thought it would be fun to put name tags above each of their hooks with a picture of each of them.  While my fifth and second graders know which hook is theirs, having the picture above will definitely help the littlest in remembering where to hang his backpack each day.

back to school comix stripI also used the Canon PIXMA Comix app to make this little comic of my two boys.  We were doing a little fashion shoot of their back to school outfits and this is my rendition of what I think goes on in their little heads when I ask them to take pictures.  The app is easy to use and it’s fun to see the completed product!

Having a printer at home is pretty much a necessity these days.  Between printing projects for the kids schoolwork, printing photos I’ve taken with my DSLR, and scanning in signed contracts for work, a good multi-purpose printer is essential.

You can use the printer to copy, scan and print photos and documents.  The built in wireless technology allows you print and scan wirelessly as long as your device and printer are on the same wireless network.  Navigating your way around the different options is easy with the 3.5″ LCD touchscreen.

I set the printer up entirely on my own (go me!) and in less than 30 minutes.  The instructions were well written and I knew exactly what needed to be done before moving to the next step. As a person who sometimes struggles with technology, it’s nice to be able to hold your own and not have to summon the help of your spouse.

    i did a comic of my daughter and our doggy.
    Love them both so much.
    It’s okay to cry when sending our kiddos to school.
    So far I have cried 3 years in row.

    I upload my grandkids and I so love to put words/captions to pictures of babies. I do it naturally so this was fun.
