We are all gearing up for baby “Rutabaga.” Georgia asks for a weekly size comparison to monitor her sister’s growth, and then affectionately calls the baby that for the week. My favorite was Baby Butternut (as in Butternut Squash). Since she was so young when Harper was born, Georgia wasn’t able to help in the same way she’ll be able to this time around. I’m going to love having all the extra hands available!
Today, we are having swaddling practice with both girls so that they can keep their new baby snug and feeling secure. When thinking of swaddling blankets, there was one brand I knew I needed to have before the baby arrived: aden + anais.
All of my friends had them for their children, which makes it sound like peer pressure. But really, I have a circle of wonderful mamas and papas around me and knew if they were all fans, it must be worth checking out. Thankfully, I received a 4-pack of the Jungle Jam Classic Swaddle Blankets to review.
Here are a few of my favorite things about the blankets:
- Size. One of things things I adore about the aden + anais blankets is the size. I’ve purchased other baby blankets, but they are either too tiny to get a good swaddle, or too big and end up bulky. These are 47-inch squares, perfect for a generous swaddle. They can also be used as a nursing blanket when needed.
- Material. With the pretty moderate California climate, I don’t need anything too insulated. The aden + anais swaddling blankets are made of 100% breathable cotton muslin and lightweight, perfect for keeping baby cozy without overheating them. They are also available in bamboo or an organic material.
- Softness. Straight out of the package, they were soooo comfy. After each wash, however, they become even cozier. I can guarantee these will be a favorite for snuggling even after the days of infancy are done (hopefully they won’t go by too quickly).
The variety of prints are quite charming, also. The set I received is more neutral, which makes them perfect for either gender. If you’re looking for a gift for a new baby or shopping for yourself, you’ll find a ton of great options at adenandanais.com.
I can’t wait for our baby to be the size of a small pumpkin so we can finally meet her. I’m stocking up, Baby Rutabaga, and your sisters will be baby swaddling experts by the time you arrive!

Those are sooo great! I miss swaddling a baby. Just last night, as my 2 year old was nursing, I was thinking.. I wonder if he’d like to swaddle now, so that I can keep his hands from poking and pulling!!
Melanie says
Ha! I can relate! Maybe I can swaddle a few tweens I know who can’t seem to sit still.
Mellisa says
I love those blankets, they look so soft and comfy.
Melanie says
They are incredibly soft…and they just get softer with time and washings!

These are beautiful and would have been perfect for my children. All three of them were born during warmer weather but loved being swaddled and bundled.
Melanie says
Mine loved being cozy and secure, too. These are perfect for all seasons, and there are tons of options. 🙂

I had one of these when my daughter she was an infant, and I loved it. The designs are beautiful, too. 🙂
Melanie says
Aren’t they?!?! I love that they are sweet designs, but not too over the top cutesy. They look great in newborn photos.
Tiff @ Babes and Kids says
I have a lot of these swaddles and I LOVE them. I use them for nursing too, just tie one around my neck. The great thing about them too is that the more you wash them, the softer they get.
Melanie says
That’s a great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
I think their swaddling blankets are probably some of the best made. They’re excellent!
Melanie says
I agree. I knew I could donate all of my old ones, and just stick with these.
Shell Feis says
We’ll be picking up some of these soon! They are so cute.

I love them too! I’m registering for the crib sheets too, because I can’t get over my fascination with the softness.
