This past weekend I had a small party at the house for my children and some of their friends. It was a themed bug party so all the snacks and drinks were in some way related to bugs or surfaces where you can find bugs. We had Ants on a Log, Bug Juice, Caterpillar Grapes, Bugs on a Stick, Worms & Dirt and more!

In keeping with the theme I wanted to create something using Rice Krispies and some of the NEW Jif Whips Whipped Peanut Butter Spreads. I found a recipe from Jif that used both so I decided to include it and call them Mud Krispies for the party, but their official title is Frosted Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats.

Rice Krispie Treats are one of the easiest treats to make because of the minimal ingredients required and there is no baking time. In the summer it gets pretty warm here in Texas and the last thing I want to do is use my oven. Plus the minimal time commitment is another huge plus to making Rice Krispie Treats.

My family is big on peanut butter. We like it crunchy and creamy and we were all excited to try the Jif Whips Whipped Peanut Butter Spreads that we had received samples of. It comes in two different varieties: Whipped Creamy Peanut Butter and Whipped Peanut Butter & Chocolate and I used the latter for this recipe.

They look delicious, right?

Frosted Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Treats + Giveaway

A spin on the traditional Rice Krispies Treat by adding in Jif Whips Whipped Peanut Butter & Chocolate Spread.

Ingredients

No-stick cooking spray
3 tablespoons butter
1 (10 oz.) package mini marshmallows (6 cups)
1 (15.9 oz.) container Jif Whips Whipped Peanut Butter & Chocolate Flavored Spread, divided
6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal (Original recipe calls for a chocolate crisp rice cereal. If you wanted, you could use Cocoa Krispies instead.)

Instructions

Line a 8-inch square baking dish with foil, making sure to extend the foil over the edges of the dish. Spray foil with no-stick cooking spray.

Melt butter in a large saucepan (4 qt or bigger) over low heat until melted. Add in the marshmallows stirring until completely melted. Remove melted marshmallow from heat and blend in 1 1/4 cups peanut butter chocolate spread, making sure to mix until well combined. Add in Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated.

Press mixture into the prepared pan. To make it easier and to keep the mixture from sticking to your hands, use either a sheet of wax paper or plastic wrap over the mixture and press down firmly with your hands. Cool completely.

Frost treats with the remaining peanut butter chocolate spread. Remove the treats from the pan using the edges of the foil. Cut into 32 bars.

These received nothing but compliments from the children and parents alike last weekend. You still experience the same crispy goodness the Rice Krispies Treat is known for, but the peanut butter and chocolate just gives it a whole new experience all together. It’s definitely an experience you don’t want to miss!
