While this post is part of a sponsored campaign by Unilever Project Sunlight, all opinions and experiences expressed are entirely my own.
I firmly believe that if we want to see change in the world around us, we must be the change we want to see. I also believe that we must first start at home. Our children watch us, more than we probably even think, and more times than not, they emulate our actions.
I know I want a better future for my children. I want them to grow up in a world filled with love and empathy, not a world filled with hate and violence. I want them to grow up in a world where its residents respect it, rather than littering the roads and oceans with their trash. I want them to grow up in a world where children are given the opportunity to grow, create, and explore without limitations. As a parent, I want the best for them.
I think that as a whole, we don’t give children enough credit. We brush off their thoughts and ideas because they seem so far from our reach. Where we as adults see impossibilities, they only see possibilities. They aren’t burdened with mortgages and restrictions. Their innocence and freedom from adult problems allow them to see a brighter future. A future they can create, if only we give them the opportunity.
I am partnering with Unilever to bring awareness to Unilever Project Sunlight, a long-term initiative to motivate people to live sustainably by inspiring them to create a brighter future for children. After watching The Way Kids See It, a short film launched by Unilever Project Sunlight, I’m more inspired than ever to give my children a brighter future, and to allow them to be an integral part of shaping that future.
My family will doing a Summer Sunlight Activity to make our home more sustainable. Since we are teaching the children about recycling and the importance of sustainable living, we are going to Go Green in the Bathroom. What’s really neat about this initiative is that your family can join in as well. There are four different activities to choose from. You can choose just one, or you can choose to do all four. It’s totally up to you!
I love seeing the children in the above video that are so concerned with environmental and social issues around the world and in their neighborhoods. Their hearts are so big and full of consideration for issues much more important than their innocence minds can comprehend. Lets support our children on the journey to a brighter future.
What did you think about the video? Does your child(ren) have any inspiring ideas for helping to create a brighter future?

What a wonderful initiative. I truly believe our children are the future to rebuild our world that we have sadly ruined. Zoe is all about helping with hunger. She is just so sad that children/adults go hungry. She wishes we could make meals and put them in the front lawn daily for those that need it.

Our daughter really has a heart for hunger. When we lived in SD her and her friend on their own initiative would go on Saturday evenings to the Salvation Army and help cook and prepare food. Here now in Texas she enjoys packing backs for Feed the Hungry. We really need to be better about choosing to be more sustainable though. More often than not, we take the easier route in those circumstances 🙁

I agree with you that our kids are an integral part of changing the future and it does start at home. I think this project with Unilever is just great and it makes it easy for the kids to participate.

We have been working really hard on sustainability in our house. We have planted an herb and vegetable garden and the kids had a great time with it. I think teaching the kids this is crucial to our future.

My children amaze me at how great they are about recycling and how much they care about our planet. I am looking forward to checking out the activities and participating in at least one of the four!
